Flesh eating bacteria is highly resistant to antibiotics. We have cases in Florida of people being infected from swimming in the ocean. With all the sewage and Etc that's being spewed out there everyday it doesn't surprise me. We never had red algae blooms when I was young now they happen every year

Yea, but maybe he could have killed off the infection that turned to the flesh eating disease. If it was that, I doubt he would have won his suit. There is very little doctors can do to stop it once it starts except cut it out. :(

the gangran is caused by a specific bacteria of the clostridium species (perfringens most probably).

It is actually quite responsive to penicillin but not treated immediately it will usually result in dead or horrifying necrotic wounds.

But as it does not have any resistencies it does indeed raise the question of improper care during or post surgery...

I don't know anything about the case. I do find it strange that he could even get the operation if incarcerated. However, I can attest that Florida jails and possibly prisons are pretty much always battling staph and MRSA. It's a problem that's never solved because new infected inmates are constantly being introduced to the jail or prison populations. Theoretically, by the time they make it far enough through the criminal justice system to reach prison they've been cured, but that's not going to happen with county jails that deal with people fresh off the streets.

I am even told that they are entitled to gender reassignment surgery at the taxpayers expense. I don't remember my source but I don't think it's a completely trustworthy source.

Flesh eating bacteria it's not the same As your common gangrene. There is no cure. The skin must be removed.

Thanks, DougAnd. That explains a lot of the confusion.

If I read this I would NEVER GO TO PERITO. Even it s only one side of 2 what you mentioned. But
the penis amputation is a fact and I dont think that the patient - or now I know he had 2 PATIENTS with amputated Penis after his surgery- have done anything wrong knowing that this can happen.

IT S JUST MY OPINION but I also must say he looks for my not like a serious surgeon, he s looking more like a cowboy and I guess he dont give a shit If they must amputate your penis or not. Thats JUST MY STOMACH FEELING AND I CAN BE WRONG FOR SURE- but with this fact NO ONE COULD BRING ME UNDER HIS KNIFE, and I guess many have the same feeling when they are reading that.
