Great forum. My story -- ED occasionally in 30s, then Viagra hit the market and was great. Good hard reliable erections, some headaches/flushing but well worth it. Now mid-50s and Viagra, Cialis, Levitra have all been tried but don't work. Well "sort of" work -- can get hard through masturbation with a lot of work, but not hard enough for penetration and wouldn't want to try the patience of a partner to get me hard, it just takes too long.

Tried penis pump -- way too clumsy and ineffective. Tried injections -- sort of worked, but don't like the bruising and inconvenience. Finally, tried Wave Therapy -- costly, embarrassing series of treatments that did nothing for me.

So I'm gearing up mentally to consider an implant. Worried about cost, pain/recovery time and results. Also, wondering about sexual desire. Seems to have waned in my 50s; is this a function of not feeling I can perform or just a matter of aging? Any thoughts from guys with implants as to how your sex life compares now to what it was before the implant? Did you get the "rush" back that may be just at bay now because I'm not confident I can get it up? Any thoughts/comments appreciated, again great forum!

For me, age is probably the main culprit (testosterone test might be in order for you). The lack of confidence thing is fading fast, as my implant is proving 100% reliable and my partner 100% supportive.

Other age-related loss of libido is most likely due to your general health, about which you have A LOT OF CONTROL over. Exercise regularly, eat healthily and keep mentally and sexually active. BIG EFFECT on your ability to have continued ability and desire.

The "Rush" you speak of, which I have noticed is lessened, is still yet to be determined the reason why.

All these are minor issues. Being able to relate to my partner in a sexual way....totally worth it. Like the difference between taking your date to a nice restaurant in a car vs a wheelbarrow. Maybe not a Ferrari, but any set of wheels that starts and runs is better than not.

Pain and recover? Totally WORTH IT.

Lost Sheep, thank you so much for that great answer. Testosterone has been tested and is lower than I'd like but not super low (so the doc says). But one other factor that you touched on...general health -- blood sugar levels too high. Diabetes in the family and I've been pre-diabetic or diabetic for a few years I'd say. Not overweight, remain fairly active but using a blood sugar monitor I know I'm too high sugars in the 140 to 160 range.

So the only follow-up to you or anyone else in the forum who might have experience with this, how has diabetes or high blood sugar affected your ED? Solutions? Thanks again...and if no further answers, I'll investigate the implant further and be happy to report back with any results.

I had my first implant when I was around 58 years old. I tested for cancer on my prostrate and I had it removed. Was borderline diabetic also, still am have to take Medformin. After the surgery doctor wanted me to take viagra, did not work. Then Carverject and that gave me an erection right away, but for me it was too painful, so then the doctor brought out the three piece AMS product and asked if I was interested. I had already done some research and I told him that I wanted it done as soon as possible. First two days it was painful, but it was because when I come out of the surgery the doctor left the cylinders inflated a little more then what I liked. I told the doctor to take some of the pressure off and it felt a lot better. I was an out patient on both applied ice pack on the scrotum as soon as I got home and within a week I was much better and healing up. Lasted 15 years until the pump failed, so I had the revision done. Again no hesitation on getting an implant. I think you would like it also.

Lost has it all about right. I am coming up to 2 years implanted. It was the best decision I’ve made in recent times.
My cock didn’t have any internal scarring or plaque so my urologist was able to maximise my result.....I am glad I didn’t vaccilate.
I followed my doctors instructions and cycled for over 12 months until at full inflation I felt no pain. Happy man

For what it’s worth I am a low T guy who uses testogel daily........I still have a very high libido in spite of this anomaly so I can’t say my T levels affect my sexuality too much.....it seems not to.
I am in very good shape tho with no other medical conditions....so it may be instructive for those who are out of shape and are considering an implant to look at YouTube: Dr Michael Mosely and his 5:2 diet regime.....it’s not easy-it takes some discipline, but it fucking works!

Yes very happy I had this done an more than 100% satisfied with result. One thing I told my wife before it was done is that at times my brain told me I had an erection but nothing was there. Sort of like phantom limb pain. Now when those sensations occur I give a couple of pump and enlarge it, It then begins to feel natural, I guess the receptors in the skin are being activated due to tissue stretching from pumping. Since ED set in, receiving the implant was a game changer.

Pain and recovery....I have had worst trips to the dentist.

Now cost wise, I had to pay out of pocket. Used Surgeo.com as my broker and they handled everything except travel to Houston (a couple hours drive for me). Cost was appx. $20k.

I am now type 2 diabetic (about 15 years). I have had some form of ED since 1985. The last 8 years I have had total ED... Viagra and daily Cialis worked for a while but in January of 2015 the drugs failed to work. I tried the injections but it is ridiculous expensive and not covered by our drug plan and I injected 4 times, it worked for the most part but it burned so bad, I couldn't enjoy the sex. I have had a weight problem my entire life but it's not that bad but bad enough I ended up a diabetic. Also, I have high cholesterol, high blood sugar and in December 2015 I had a heart attack followed by a triple bypass. Finally in 2017 I got an implant... unfortunately, a month later I went into septic shock and was within 12 hours of death's door. They had to remove my implant, give me 6 months to heal and on December 14, 2017 I was re-implanted. People with open holes shouldn't stand too close to me... I went a long time without sex. I have no problem talking to guys on the phone (I really hate typing conversations) I have had phone conversations with many of our members and they all say that they feel better at the end of the call. How do you find implants work for masturbation or in new encounters? Similar to pre-implant? Can a new partner tell you've been implanted?

Most of the postings here talk about great / recovered sex lives with wives or domestic partners. If no one wants to answer this, I understand -- and again thank you so much for the great replies and info already. I'm about 95% on my way to an implant, and will be in touch during and after; if it's as great for me as you guys say for you, I'll be happy to share my story. Your questions are really helpful to all consdiering an implant. I have restated them below with my answers:

Yes, there is a price to pay, but “the ends justify the means” in this case. In other words, the cost/pain/recovery time for me could have been quadrupled, and I will still go through getting an implant.

QUESTION: wondering about sexual desire. Seems to have waned in my 50s; is this a function of not feeling I can perform or just a matter of aging?

For me, decreased sex desire was fear of not being able to perform. I have always been a rather sexually driven guy, still am. Now after implant, I have a very high libido (far higher than my ability to find willing females)

Yes, sex is a great rush, and that is back now that I can perform. PLEASE NOTE, if libido is a problem, it might be low testosterone. For a while, I was on testosterone injections, and my t level was really high. My sex desire was similarly crazily high as well. For me, Testosterone directly dials up my libido in a linear fashion (i.e., high testostorone=higher libido in a dose related fashion)

Probably, if she feels the pump in your balls and if she wonders why your penis is so super hard and will never lose power, even after your orgasm. BUT, most guys here on frank talk report that they can easily get away with one or two sex sessions with a new girl without getting discovered.
