Reservoir and Pump

I had an AMS 700 installed the 12th. I have 2 things I consider not normal. One is the reservoir stitches are about 3" long and it looks pinched and sticks up like a piece of rope was sewn in. Its also very hard. Not smooth or level with my skin.

The 2nd thing is the pump is behind my balls against my pubic bone and hard to grab. When I sit on a flat chair I'm sitting on it. If I'm cold and shrunk up I can hardly feel it with my hand. Is this normal? The Dr says it is.

Was your implantation done scrotally or supra-pubic? Mine was done through the scrotum and there was no incision made for the reservoir. The entire device/assembly was inserted through that one incision near where the penis meets the scrotum. Those implants done above the penis usually only have that one incision/scar just a small distance above the penis and usually centered on the body. Did your surgeon have a reason for using one of the less common techniques?

I do have an appendectomy scar which was prominent for a few months after surgery (and still is at one end of it). They fade and reduce in time.

Can you post pictures?

it was done at the base of the penisjust into the scrotem. He also put the reservoir in my left side opposite where I had a hernia operation. The scar isn't the problem, there is about 1/2 inch lump about 4-5 inches long under the scar. I cant get a picture to show the lump clearly, but if you run your finger over it there is a sunken spot under the scar and a raised spot on the scar. For some reason Im not getting notices when someone posts.

Im now 2 weeks and 3 days since surgery. Healing. Scar still is tender on my abdomen and still sticks out. I have noticed that where he routed the tubes on the left side on the top of my scrotum around my penis to the reservoir burns sometimes and feels like they shaved too close, but the burning is inside. I can easily feel the tubes from the pump to the base top of my penes and they feel just under the skin. Is that normal?

mine burned too, but that has now gone away. The AMS nurse also said that is normal. You might email Jamie Matson at Boston Scientific. jamie.matson@bsci.com
