First cycling at Day 7?

Postby London lad » Tue Nov 20, 2018 10:46 am

I am Day 5 out of surgery (with date of my operation being Day 1).

My surgeon had recommended first seeing one of his team to try cycling for first time at Day 10. But the outpatient appointment clinics with him run only once a week, and so I could only book one with him at Day 14 or Day 7. Day 14 was fully booked anyway, and so I went for Day 7.

Interested to hear wider experiences of when people on the board were taught cycling for first time. Is Day 7 too soon?

(Appointments at my hospital in the UK are organised by an Admin team - and so I'm not entirely sure if the surgeon himself does/doesn't consider Day 7 too soon).

I hear that Dr. Eid's patients start the cycling at Day 3, but understand this is because he does the surgery a bit differently to other surgeons.

I was given 6 weeks after op as a return date before any instructions on cycling would be given. I think however this was due to the fact Im diabetic and he assumed my recovery would be slower as even a scratch takes weeks to heal.

Anyway after auto inflation issues I saw him after a week and he gave me the sample pump/button and said I was healing well and I could start in a week or two. I have been able to deflate it a bit and pump up a little but the pain is so bad as I have had a 24/7 boner for 3 weeks so its minimal cycling for now

Would have lost my mind had it not been for this forum...

5 days is not to early as long as your 100% sure you can deflate it . Your first touch of
The pump should be to locate the deflate valve and you need to be positive that you have it in the right position then push on it hard for a slow count of five then massage your penis and you should feel some fluid movement if you can do that then give the pump two no more than three pumps wait a few minutes then deflate. One of the things that Dr. Eid does is he uses glue to seal the incision site that allows you to sit in a hot bath after three days. Don’t do this unless your surgeon says it’s ok you risk infection if the incision is not totally water proof . If you can’t use the tub then get a heating pad and place it on your Penis and scrotum for long enough to allow you scrotum to relax and make the pump easily palatable. I hope This helps I’m 25 days post op and have been having sex for a week. Allbeit carefully still tender but better every day.

I had activation at day 8, but my doctor always does this. My surgery was infra-pubic , so there was no incision on my scrotum, which probably helps a lot. It was still painful, and the first time the doctor pumped me up that day I thought I'd hit the ceiling, but it got easier quickly. If I had been sore from an incision, as well, I definitely would have wanted to wait.

I also had the surgical glue and was allowed to sit in a hot bath at day 3. Pumping up and down, and even finding the pump and the deflation button, is much easier in the tub. I bought a hot tub and still use it for morning and evening inflation almost every day.

If I were you, I'd ask my doctor if I could soak in a hot bath yet and if it was OK to try your own activation.

Best wishes on whatever you decide.

And hot tubs have chlorine, which will help prevent infection. :)
