Making a choice of a surgeon

Postby Floppy » Sat Oct 06, 2018 11:33 am

When I decided to go ahead with surgery I did my due diligence trying to figure out who to use and what product to use. I spoke to the reps from AMS and Coloplast I will say that AMS was very aggressive trying to steer me to the local doctors in my area but oddly against the high volume doctors. Coloplast also wanted local doctors to get the case but were a little more open to doing what I was comfortable with. I have a good local urologist that does a few implants with good results only uses one brand and has a rep deliver the product and uses rtes. I think that if your going to have brain surgery you want the best dr you can find the guy that specializes in that type of surgery and does it all the time. If I’m going to get an implant I want a surgeon that does it all the time.
I’m fortunate that I’m covered by Medicare and my only cost will be travel expenses so i chose to travel for five hours and spend the money it takes to feel comfortable with a dr I trust. The one I’ve spoken with that I trust will do the best he can. I’m not going to tell my professional how to do his job or what to use I believe I found a surgeon that will use his extensive experience to get the best results he can with the least chance of complications. October 26th I’ll find out. Wish me luck.

Good luck with your surgery. Don't forget to edit your signature and let your FT family know how you're doing. :)
