Deflation button

Hello, newly implanted a little over 2 weeks wit an AMS 700 CX, finally beginning to actually feel the equipment but I’m having a hard time locating the deflation button..anyone else ever had or have that issue? Go back to the Doctor in a couple of weeks just wanted to have an ideal. Also it seems like the pump is slightly tangled wit my left testical..not hanging like the right.

Dude,
There is a lot of gunk around your pump. It will clear up and the button will be easy to find and operate. Your pump should also hang lower and be easy to operate. Take it from an implantee almost 2 years now. PM or email if you have questions or concerns. I'm here for you my new brother.

My doc recommends after each urination to gently tug pump down 3 times to bottom of scrotum (where he created a pouch) and to gently massage around the pump to prevent adhesions. But I did have the infrapubic approach (scrotum was not cut).
I could operate the pump bulb but not deflate until he showed me how and then it was quite easy.
Did your doc leave you inflated and make any recommendations until your next visit?

Thanks for the replies. Donnie ya right after checking there is a little stuff around the pump and slight swelling at the scrotum incision; each day seems to be getting better just need to giv it a little more time like you suggested.

Tsanchez yes he left me slightly inflated, when I went in for my one week follow up he just said to take it easy, take the meds as directed(antibiotics & pain) and ice to reduce swelling and to come back in 3 weeks for operation instructions. I too have pretty good access and believe I can operate the pump bulb but deflation is my issue.

Almost every implantee has this question. You could still have some swelling as well. As Donnie says, just give it some time. Tugging downward on the pump to the bottom of your scrotum is very good advice.

I have heard this recommended by several FT members. Interesting, Dr. Eid was adamant that I should NOT do that when I asked him at the 4 or 5-day point post-op. He said, "scar tissue is already starting to form do not tug on the pump". I am not sure if this is just a difference in opinion or a possible difference in procedure of how some surgeons may or may not tether or place the pump.

Doctors have their own protocol. Some tape the penis to the abdomen. Some say constantly gentle tugging will bring the pump down. Some stich the pump in place. Some make a pocket for it. Mine only told me to gently tug on mine. I'll be 2 years planted on Oct 4. Absolutely no problems so far.
I was very pleased with my Urologist Surgeon. I had found my deflate button on the pump but I was afraid to press it. I dreamed I pressed the button and the next morning I was deflated. No problems ever since. I also had infrapubic and 5.5 cm RTEs. Pumping and deflating is second nature now.
