Sent email to Dr. Eid, what now??

Postby SigSTX1911 » Tue Sep 18, 2018 2:23 pm

From reading posts on here, I hear Dr. Eid is the best at implants. I have been told by my Urologist that the next step for my ED is implants as oral meds and Trimix hasn't worked.
I don't know if I should go with my local dr. who has said he has done hundreds of these, or try for Dr. Eid. I am not rich by any means and wonder if the cost in the procedure would be different between the two in regards to my insurance.
I also am curious about how long it takes to get into get the procedure, based on your experiences. I realize the travel from WI. to New York will be on me. Thank you.

You have costs of travel, hotel and such with Eid but his implant cost is reasonable. Really, that makes him a bargain when you consider a surgeon who has rock star status on the forums but does not charge Hollywood prices. About the same as my Kramer cost. Around $25-27,000 last I knew. My implant with Millam was much much higher. There are some who have posted bills as high as $70-80,000. Some doctors will quote a price and stick to it. Some local doctors gouge to be cautious.
LGX 21cm .Milam 01/13/16. Horror; both service and surgical outcome. hated infrapubic installation. Kramer revision 03/01/17. 22cm Titan +1.5cm extender. Those who think their opinion is the only one that matters are a danger to themselves and others.

First welcome to the site. You have found a great place with a lot of really good folks. Most with a lot more knowledge than me.

First of all I did not go to Dr. Eid. I did travel to have my implant done. If I had a really good doctor that I trusted in my area to do the implant I would have stayed local. There can be problems with this and even the best have a percentage of problems albeit smaller. It would be a very expensive office call if follow up is needed. I would check Health Grades for all doctors in my area that did penile implants. I would make a list of the ones that have good reviews and volume. I would ask my doctor his/her infection rate. I would ask how many h/s does a year. And I would ask if I would loose size. If I had doubts I would check with another doctor from my list.

https://www.garber-online.com/pdf/Highe ... ctions.pdf This study indicates that surgeons that do less than 8 implants a year have a greater number of reoperations. All the surgeons in my area did only 2-3 a year. It also shows the lower volume doctors have much higher infection rates. My local uro would not give me his infection rate and would only say that "it happens". My local uro also said I would loose 1".

Even the high volume doctors have reoperation rates. Dr. Eid even lists the number of infections a year he has on his web site. And reoperations for other causes are higher than infection.

If I could have found a really good doctor in my area I would have stayed local for this. There are a lot of really good doctors for this. There just weren't any in my area.

Bottom line is you need to find a doctor that you trust for this. If you can find one local this would be great as follow up office calls would be easier and less expensive. But if you cannot find anyone local that you trust then you should expand your search area.

Good luck going forward with this. Please ask any questions you have.

Please create a signature. It makes things much easier to answer your questions without asking a lot of questions. Here's how you do it
Click on your name in the top right corner and select "user control panel"

Then under the big letters "User Control Panel" there is a row of words... select "Profile"

Then down the left had side of the "User Control Panel" select "Edit Signature" (You might have Create Signature or something. I don't know exactly what you'll get because I already have a signature to edit)

Most guys put something like what I have, but you can put whatever you want. Here is mine -
51 years old, married 29 years. Implanted Mar 30/17 by Dr. Brock of London, Ont, CANADA. (AMS 700 CX 18 + 2). Had implant removed Apr 29/17 due to Septic Shock. Liposuction By Dr. Gan and re-implant by Dr. Brock (AMS LGX 15 + 2) Dec 14/17.

Don't get too carried away with the doctor like his name, address, phone number, etc (anything that looks like advertising for him).. you can certainly say Dr. Jones (great Dr.)

Can you please be sure to put your city, state/province and country.

If you need further help, please ask, that's what I'm here for.

SigSTX1911, Newbie gave you some good general advice. If Medicare is your primary insurance there is a required waiting period a two or three days between your last appointment and surgery. This adds to any hotel stay but it is not required if insurance is your primary coverage. Also, Dr. Eid does do video or phone consultations that save you one visit to NYC. The video consultation is $300 for 30 minutes and insurance will not cover that. It is covered if you go to the office for the first visit. Dr. Eid is scheduling surgeries roughly 8 weeks our from the time you get lab work. He will email you an order for the lab work.

If you have questions and want to talk just pm me.

Be sure and book it soon if you want it this year. All the doctors get booked up toward the end of the years because people have finally met their deductible and want it done before the new year rolls over. Dr. Eid did take off one month one year for the holidays when I was trying to book him and I had a couple other doctors in the past tell me they were already booked for the rest of the year when I tried to get it scheduled in October. Time is ticking in that respect. Good luck sir.
