I am 15 days post op and have fresh memories.
Pain wise, it was not bad at all. I asked for pain medication in the evening after surgery to help me thru the night and next day before ride home.
While at home, I took only 3 Tramodol (Thursday, Friday & Saturday night) to help me fall asleep and go through the night. After that I stopped it completely with no needs for pain meds and no pain higher then 2. It was very easy tolerable. I used lots of ice and was icing it religiously on and off while awake.
Since Monday, 9/17, when I started cycling of device, I take Tylenol in the evening to help my stay inflated for 30-45 minutes.
As a comparison, my adult circumcision, was way more painful especially during the nights when I was experiencing spontaneous erections.
Ohh, that good old times....

My understanding of pain pills is that if you stop too soon you end up having to chase the pain to get comfort again. Any experiencec??

That is not so much if you stop too soon, The expression "chasing the pain" is more of a result early on from spreading the pills too far apart or in too light of a dose. It is usually something that could happen in the first 3 days when pain can be intense enough to get ahead of you. Again, however, the result is just 20 - 30 minutes of pain until the pills kick in.

Many of us stop the pain pills and then have a day or night several days later where you just know you need to take one to rest well or endure a trip etc.

Pee bucket is probably unnecessary unless you think you're going to need to jump out of bed and run to the bathroom. Really, the pain isn't all that bad (at least for me it wasn't).
Suffered with ED for most of my life. Viagra then to Trimix then implanted 3/8/2018 with AMX 700 CX 21cm with 1cm RTE. 50 years old Urolift procedure performed 30 day prior to my implant surgery.

The only reason I asked about a pee bucket was because I thought there would really sharp pain walking to the bathroom.

It is "old school" to think not moving helps you heal. That's why if you have knee replacement they have you up and on your feet the same day. While you should lay flat on your back for a few days, It is actually good to get up and walk to a bathroom or to eat. It signals the body there is still a need to repair because you intend to use your body. It might be uncomfortable to get in and out of bed but the walking itself will not bother you. It will help.
