Is it time for an implant? Opinions welcomed

Good evening:

I am a 64 year old in very good health but have been dealing with significant ED since my early 40's. No medical issues or surgery just slowly developed significant Ed by my early 40's.

Pills worked for 10 years or so but had to keep switching from one pill to another when the potency of a pill would eventually diminish. Now all pills don't work and I have been using a tri-mix injection for that last 7 years or so. It works pretty good most times but I have had to use more and more cc's .My urologist has told me that eventually the injections--like the pills --will become ineffective but he counsels waiting to have an implant until that day arrives.

The problem with injection is the complete lack of spontaneity. Inject, wait 30 minutes and then you have perhaps 15 to 30 minutes. Does not provide for much relaxation --more like just getting a physical relief. Still have good organisms and my wife of 40 plus years usually does also--but not as reliably as I do due to the time restraints that accompany use of injections. My wife is a fabulous partner but our relationship has definitely taken a hit because of my inability to perform and our lack of spontaneity. We basically have to schedule when we are going to have sex.

I am willing to have the surgery and would appreciate comments from those of you who faced as similar situation. Should I wait till the injections don't work anymore? Also I live in the Midwest(KC area ) and really don't want to go to NY or Philly for surgery. Any recommendations for surgeons to interview would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it.

My history is similar to yours, pills lost effectiveness. Vacuum device and constriction rings just did not make for relaxed spontaneous love-making. (But the vacuum device did help maintain/restore elasticity in y penis, if not size).

I skipped injections entirely.

Dr. Eid advised me, "find a surgeon in love with his craft",

Good luck sir.

I would wait until the injections don't work anymore. Everybody is different so it is a decision you have to make for yourself. In my case I wish I could have continued with the injections. I didn't have to wait 30 mins and it lasted longer. It did take some getting used to,

For some reason orgasms take forever with the implant. My wife just endures it. With injections, orgasms were normal. Just saying.

My story is similar and I agree with Lost.
I found Caverject effective if a little inconsistent.
I’m sure there has been discussion on here about potential internal scarring through regular and prolonged injecting. I’m almost certain that my surgeon raised the point in the lead up to my procedure....I needed little convincing because I found injecting inconvenient in the extreme.
My Titan is now almost 20 months old and is simply amazing.
Sex is fantastic. There have been subtle changes over time.....re-gained length, improved girth and now a return of sensitivity....yes it was difficult to orgasm, but over the last couple of months it has resolved in the positive.
My only advice would be....don’t hesitate BUT do choose your surgeon carefully :)

Some doctors warn against too many injections because it can form scar tissue which is an issue when you go to have implant surgery. My situation was 30 years of ED, trying everything to help, but nothing was effective. It ended up I had a Venous Leak which never would have corrected itself so for me it was a waste of time waiting.

Well, before the implant, my orgasms came too damn soon. Thanks to the implant, they are much delayed and my wife of 29 years loves it. ;) :) ;)

OK, question for you... how bad was your loss of sensitivity, where all was affected and how long before the return of the sensations and is it all back or just partially?? I know, I said one question... :)

I did injections (bi-mix) for 8 months about 3 per week after my prostatectomy. While they gave me solid long-lasting erections It was the worst thing I ever did as it triggered Peyronies Disease (PD) and a loss of size. Keep in mind that once triggered, PD cannot be switched off just by stopping. It is like adhesions or keloids. Scar tissue will over-run normal tissue often far from the wound site.

Unlike others, I used my implant for intercourse at 21 days post-op and had NO problem reaching an orgasm. Same is true every time since. If anything I find it is easier than it was with the VED.

Nothing good happens to your penis while you wait unless you consider a smaller, scared penis a good thing.

100% agree, that's why I don't understand our un-implanted members counselling other un-implanted members to wait... in this case, BAD things come to those who wait. :)
