A "gifted" surgeon.....

When my "more moral" (or not) Plantation FL urologist (I had not discovered FT at that time) REALLY screwed up my first implant, all I got from him was "smoke blown up my ass" and 'I can fix that with a revision'...... I was in Nashville TN for a funeral and a longtime friend got me in to see the top urology doc in her group. He said 'I've never seen one come out like this. I can fix it but seeing where you live, you should see Dr Perito in Miami'. I did...Perito fixed it! It was quite complicated but he had the experience as well as the expertise.

Incidentally, I have now had another revision (device failure - Titan), Between the two, I've spent a fair amount of time talking with Dr Perito and find him to be an interested and interesting person. A "real guy" AND a gifted surgeon! And an afternoon in his (very crowded) office is like an afternoon in Little Havana (although, to my surprise, Dr Perito is not Latino).

DR Perito is tops, especially for the infra pubic procedure which is less invasive with a shorter healing process.

You mean you can start to cycle before 3 days and have sex before 21 days? How could it be a quicker recovery? What makes it less invasive when it has a bigger incision? That is the very definition of invasive.

I am not saying infra-pubic is not a legitimate procedure or that it has no benefits. But how can you possibly say it has a faster recovery than Dr. Eid's scrotal surgery (the only one I can personally vouch for). I was left with a TOTALLY UNDETECTABLE scar at 21 days at which point I was having intercourse.

Does Eid recommend sex at 3 weeks?? It sounds like you were pushing the schedule. I thought it was 6 weeks for sex with the scrotal procedure. My Dr allowed sex at 4 weeks,( infra pubic) but it was uncomfortable til 6 weeks

There is no doubt that he knows how to perform an implant and some percentage of those implant surgeries were surely great jobs. The question I ask is what are the ethics and character of the man in the event something goes wrong as it does for every surgeon, some more than others?

Does he have a reputation for looking after his own self-interests or sacrificing self for his patients? If this is the same doctor, just one of the charges in his past is that he peddled watered-down cancer drugs to dying patients to get rich in violation of federal felony laws.

Interesting sun-sentinel article. Why is he still practicing medecine? Was he found guilty? All I know is UROs from all over the world come to coral gables to learn from him, how to do it. He has done over 8,000 implants.

Dr. Eid post surgery protocol is:
flat bed rest for 3 days except for a couple 15-minute walks
remove catheter and bandage on day 3
begin cycling in at least 2 baths a day - lying flat on your back (build up to inflating for 15 minutes at each bath)
Sex at 21 days (not a requirement)
light to moderate exercise in 3 weeks
exercise in 6 weeks

As far as I know, I know of no one that has patients progressing more quickly or even this fast.

After my first revision I had sex on the 17th day (without doctors clearance).... After the second revision he pointedly told me all the problems he'd encountered and convinced me to wait the 30 he felt necessary this time... Good luck guys.....
