First Nite Pain

Postby Vagabond127 » Fri Aug 24, 2018 10:48 pm

Dr Eid said the worst pain is the first nite. However, some men have said back surgery and kidney stones were way more painful. Any other perspectives??

This surgery is no walk in the park BUT it also is not kidney stones. Who would sign up for that? My kidney stones were worse and my herniated disc was worse. My ACL was worse. I think it was a close tie to my laparoscopic prostatectomy. Keep in mind I rode 4 hours right after surgery and walked upstairs. Also, the worst for me was back pain from laying flat on my back for 3 days. I followed that strict order with little repositioning and it gave me a bad backache. Also, more than the intensity, guys just don't like scrotum/penis pain.

Hawkman-

My dad had 2 kidney stones. So thanks for putting it into perspective. I can handle one night of hell looking forward to the next day of some relief. Is that realistic? How well do the pain meds work? Did you get any sleep the first few days?

The thing that hurt me the most was taking a piss after that damn Foley's was pulled out. Brought tears to my eyes.

I had an easy, quite painfree recovery from implant surgery. When I had Rotator Cuff surgery and a herniated disk in my back, the pain was horrible.
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

My catheter was removed on day 2 before discharge from hospital. I was expecting a bite a bullet moment. In fact it was less painful that getting an IV put in my arm. Definitely do not worry about removal.

As far as pissing later, again not a problem. Again I was worried and was very nervous but again it was slightly noticeable for several times, but went away that same day.

I rode home, over a 4hr trip, straight from recover as soon as I could barely walk. I think it contributed to a rough first couple days but I did sleep. I took my own catheter out on day 3. Removal was zero pain. Even though this surgery was worse than I expected, at no point was I brought to tears. Strict orders to lie flat for e days wore on me and caused a BAD back ache.

Please take large size stool softener with every single prescription pain med. Do NOT risk serious constipation on top of surgical recovery.

I was sent home without the catheter. It was removed in the OR before I recovered from anesthesia, so I never saw it.
It was very painful to pee the first few days. All other times (including first night) had manageable pain.
55 years young. Reasonably fit. No health issues other than ED.
Used pills for 5+ years and Trimix for 6 years.
Implanted on May 2, 2019 (AMS 700 LGX 18 cm x 12 mm w/3 cm RTE, MS pump).
