Turbo900,

At 2 weeks out of surgery I could pump my penis as hard as a piece of granit with skin over it.

I understood you to say your surgeon could not inflate your penis to a firm erection during an office visit. If that is true I would go back to him and tell him to either inflate your penis or explain in detail why he cannot inflate it and the solution.

Hawkman, I had a surgeon who could not get my LGX to inflate properly too and he sent me to another surgeon who did. Then it worked on again off again a while. It is well known, even doctors have told me, the AMS pumps are glitchy for a while but do get better.

Turbo,

No, you did not make a mistake getting the surgery.

It seems to me that one of three things is going on.

1) Your surgeon made a mistake (This was my first thought when you wrote that the tubes do not extend all the way to the end of your penis. But I think that may not be the only issue.)
2) As was suggested before, you are making a mistake in your pumping up technique. Allowing backflow to deflate as you are trying to inflate. This is unlikely, too. The deflate pathway is closed when you pump the bulb. But it is possible you are opening the valve as you pump, you could be undoing the inflation with every squeeze. This is more likely than valve malfuction.
3) The valve is malfunctioning, that is, not closing the deflate pathway. A call to the AMS Patient Liaison would help here. The Patient Liaison OFTEN clears up questions of valve operation (either patient mis-operation or valve malfuntion).

They do not seem to go into my glans at all.

if the cylinders dont reach and support the glans that is a sign of undersized

Trying to pump with one hand is counter productive for me. I always hit the deflate. I always pump with two hands now. No problem at all.

I've done that. While you're pumping you could be simultaneously deflating. It takes a little experience to get good with the pump.

I’ve made sure that I am not. My button you really need to apply some pressure to make it deflate which I always thought was a good thing for this very reason. I have no doubt I need more practice with it all though.

Excellent advice. I have called them and they have been a big help. Do not give up. :)

Today I had my follow up appointment with my surgeon. When he asked me how it was going I said well, I don’t think it’s working right. He began to inflate it and it became harder than it ever has been before. So it was determined that it was not defective in anyway and it was working properly which I was relieved to hear. So later on at home I tried again to inflate it
, didnt get it as hard as he did and I’m still not able to get it to that point. When it was inflated by the doctor you could really feel it stretching and I cannot get it to that point at all no matter how hard I try or how much I pump it. I’m obviously using a bad technique or need to figure out a better way to pump it. The way I do it now is to hold the base of it with my left hand while pumping the bulb with my pointer finger and the side of my thumb with my right hand. This is the only way I have been able to pump without the bulb quickly flying away from my fingers so it doesn’t bounce into my testicles which hurts quite a bit. He ordered me to inflate for 30 min each day. He said that would also eventually get the tubes farther up into my head too. Problem now is, I can’t seem to inflate it correctly. I really wish (all joking aside) there was some hands on training or a class I could attend. I obviously need lessons on proper inflation.
