Timeline Of Cycling Pain

Postby Vagabond127 » Sat Aug 11, 2018 3:56 pm

As I've stated before I do not have a tub. I plan on getting a hotel room for a week or two. Will the pain during week two or three be SOMEWHAT bearable?
Implanted with Titan 1/15/19 with Dr. Eid.

“somewhat bearable” is a subjective point of view. I am ending day 4. This morning at 8AM I took 2 Advil and a Percocet 5/325 to soak and cycle. At 8 PM I took 2 Advil and soaked only because Dr Eid told me to take a 36hr break on cycling due to swelling. On day 3 I was too active. I cannot imagine being in significant discomfort at week 3.

Individual responses are highly variable. Some seem to be running about after a fortnight. Others, like me, were in very significant pain for 6-7 weeks. But it DOES get better. And warmth of baths, heat packs and so on is a big help.

I never needed a pain pill for healing or for cycling so if you are lucky you may not have to deal with it either. When cycling, and feeling the cylinder tips pressing up onto my glans, it ached, but it was completely tolerable.

Not sure if you have already looked into this but maybe something like this would help?

Happy Life Portable Plastic Bathtub, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008XSXQIO/re ... CBb5XT47W4

I would think you could put this in your shower or right outside and be able to fill with shower head. There are other options if you search portable tub. This would be less expensive than a hotel and probably more sanitary as I’d be afraid of getting an infection from a hotel bath.

When I was allowed to start bathing at day 10 I was taking 3 a day and it really helped turn the corner on the pain. I’m coming up on 5 weeks and still taking at least one bath a day for som residual pain. It also helps dissolve the stitches I believe.

I may not have followed this closely enough to comment so just disregard my thoughts if I missed the point.

Dr. Eid tells his patients that they need to spend 120 minutes a day in a hat bath starting at day 3. That can be (3) 40-minute bahs or (2) 1hr baths.
**** He stresses that these must be lying with your back on the floor of the tub otherwise it will promote swelling rather than reduce it.****

That being true, most portable tubs will not work.

Many will find this hilarious, especially if you thrive off of heat but I do not.
What I have found in my "Love / Hate" relationship with hot baths - I loved the 1st one after 3 days in bed and like the first minutes of most of them but they sap me and rise my heart rate from a resting heart rate of 58-60 to a post-bath heart rate of 90+

Fill a large insulated drinking cup half full of ice, top off with water and a straw and drink lots of cold water
Fill another even larger container full of ice and fill about 3/4 full with water
Put a washcloth on your head and wet it from the large container. You can even place a few pieces of ice on it to help make the cold more steady. Keep dribbling ice water on your head.
Keep the vent fan and maybe an additional fan going with the door open so the bathroom does not heat up in August.
Have lots of your favorite music available or substitute something that you can get in to without watching a clock as you wilt.

I hope some of this helps ;)

Hackman. Thanks for informing me that I must be on my back during cycling. Very important piece of info. Believe it or not they make a perfect lay down tub.

Thanks again!
