Ice not working

Postby Hawkman » Wed Aug 08, 2018 3:08 pm

I have had an ice pack since surgery but thr bandaging is so thick I don’t think the temperature get through the bandage. Man, I will be glad to get this bandage off and catheter out on Friday.

I long for a good hot soak.

Did Dr Eid prescribe three different levels of pain meds for you?

I still have mine and they are marked for Severe, Moderate, Mild (OTC) pain.
The Severe Pain med is "Oxycodone" and I used it exclusively for the first three days in bed. I took it on schedule whether I felt the need or not, just to stay ahead of any pain. The Oxy should knock down any pain until things settle down.

He prescribed 2 levels, the Oxy 5/325 (Percocet) and Tylenol with codein.

Even the Oxy was not enough after that 4 hour ride and climbing a flight of stairs but I feel significantly better today.

My back is so sore from laying in this bed that now it hurts worse than the surgery issues. Not sure how i can do this for another 36 hours. And, I am on memory foam.

I think I told you that my one hour car ride to the airport on the 3rd day was the most discomfort of the entire procedure. Something about sitting on your butt really aggravates this surgery.

Dude...welcome to the club. The first week is NO picnic. I am at day 8 now, and just starting to feel a bit better, and my package is starting to calm down a bit.

I can't imagine a 4 hour ride right after surgery. Mine was a 20 minute ride 24 hours AFTER surgery, and that was bad enough.

It'll get better.

You can definitely do this man. Really manually compress the compress on your sack & press inward. Also, double bag actual ice. I got my catheter out right after surgery. Went in today & got my drain taken out & the bulky dressing extracted. Minimal swelling & bruising.

If you can withstand the surgery without anesthesia then you go this Hawk!

Remember to try to stand tall when walking & continually stretch your legs out when lying down

I'm with you. I have back problems. After 8 hours it was just too much. I had to walk around and stand up. Oddly enough I have not started swelling yet, not tender at all. When did your swelling start? Thank you, I just got my implant this morning

I am still heavily bandaged so I don’t know if or how much I am swollen
