Can anyone tell me who changed surgical gauze after they came home and about how long before it was first changed? Thanks

Depends on the surgeon and what he recommends

I wasn't "same day" surgery, I stayed overnight.
They pulled the drain late the first night.
The catheter the next morning.
The gause dressing after that.
I didn't have needle holes in my glans, so there was really nothing to bleed or seep.
The incision was sealed with glue.
I went home in a surgical gauze under garment packed with rolled gauze under the scrotum and on either side of my penis to keep it upright and cushion everything.

There was really no need for bandages. Even after surgery, the gause seems like ribbon on a Christmas package .

Wrapping it with gauze keeps the skin and scrotum tight to so any internal ooze will go out the drain instead of filling your dick skin and ball sack like a water balloon. You know when your sack gets soft it gets big and it can hold a lot of lymph and blood which would make a perfect environment for bacteria to grow in plus takes FOREVER for you body to reabsorb.
