Appointment with implant surgeon

Postby MK1965 » Mon Jul 16, 2018 12:42 pm

This morning. I saw implant surgeon for my impotence that was caused by Radical prostatectomy. Had RP 20+ months ago and tried all steps to recover my erectile function with no success. After extensive talk about all options which I already exhausted (pills, VED, penile injections) , urologist recommended penile implant. We talked about pro and cons of penile implant including complications like infection, implant failure, penile shortening, partners satisfaction etc. He answered many questions I had.
After examination he did SPL test which won’t be anything close to prior to RP length because I suffered significant loss of length and girth which doc mentioned that is more then usual for loss after RP which he expressed as significant atrophy. Not encouraging news. Suggested 7 weeks of daily use of VED of at least 30 min.
He showed me one implant which was Coloplast Titan and how it works. He does both AMS And COLOPLAST but he suggested Coloplast Titan to improve girth.
I agreed and decided I will proceed with implant.
Tentatively, scheduled for September 5 after I come back from European vacation with my wife for our 30th Wedding Anniversary.
My biggest fear now is not surgery but insurance approval of implant.
Doc mentioned he has good arguments for insurance to approve my implant but also mentioned that insurance people are not from the same world we are.
Will hope and pray for implant to be approved.

Special Thanks to Cincinnatus for info about Dr Khera At Baylor Scoot Urology. He is very nice and very personable guy with excellent bedside manners.

AMS lgx can expand length and girth by 20% if you cycle to hard daily. I have gained back 1/2 inch in 12 weeks since IP. Some here say, if doc says you will loose length, RUN. I was aggressive in getting hard from RP till IP. VAC and trimix. and was still 1/2 inch short of pre RP length. My URO with 30 years experience says I will get it all back if cycle daily.

A good doctor will get through the approval process. Some have a secretary call, get an instant no, then call you with no go. Do not give up. Get all the proper codes. They codes have changed now so I nolonger know the proper code for erectile dysfunction post prostatectomy. Find out what it is if you need to fight it. Do not accept the standard out that they will not cover any procedure to promote conception. Natural conception is nolonger possible for you. All hopes is it will go smooth w/o a battle. Check in network or out of network. Cost vary greatly. Keep in mind the part everyone leaves out that is in some part of the labeling or NIH health reports, I forget which, that state the 20% is limited by the resistance the tissues in your body has to the internal pressure of the cylinders. The product advertising clearly states UP TO 20%. I have no issue with those who say they gained size. I have no issue with an implant cylinder being able to expand. I do have issue of giving the impression every 5" dick will be 6" if you pump the shit out to the thing a while. Somewhere in their literature it also states it is limited to 20% maximum expansion by the fabric in it. May be in the paperwork for doctors section. I am not good at navigating the info like I was before it was a Boston Scientific web site. Maybe someone can find it. Keep an open mind to straight up facts so you do not end up disillusioned if your straight up ends a flop. Many factors limit expansion on both brands. Mostly scar tissue which is one of the reasons some doctors go for the highest inflation pressure they can get away with (e.g.90% inflate) and you still live with it immediately post implantation as they break up the scar tissue/plaque when they implant your or a good doctor will and expanded it helps keep those broken pieces apart so it does not reheal at the smaller size. Cheers.
