I have a Coloplast 22cm implant with 2.5 rte. What I don’t understand is why not use a 24cm implant with .5 rte? I would like to know the answer. I have some issues with dog ears so I am glad I have the shorter implant, less length to wrinkle. I just want to know the thought process for using the shorter device. My length is the same as it was before the implant so the overall length is probably correct. 8 weeks post op.

There's several possible reasons for the RTE's. Could be the 24cm wasn't in stock, or maybe a better anatomical fit to your body with the RTE's. Only the doctor knows for sure, and I would ask that question of him.
I had the same concern about "dog ears" soon after my surgery and I posted about it here. Now at 6 months there's no issue at all, completely comfortable. You should find improvement with time.

Thanks for your insight. Glad to hear about the dog ears. Looking forward to the pain of the dog ears going away.

I deal with 'dog ears'/'hinging' by keeping myself slightly inflated.....my cock is rounder and less inclined to fold or hinge and I find it more comfortable.

Yes I too had the problem with painful dog ears, but with time it has gone away
I too find it more comfortable to keep it semi inflated most of the time

My Coloplast implant is 15 months old. No dog ears any more and the implant cylinders are quit soft and flexible now. When hyper deflated (squeezing all I can get out) the cylinders do get flat and I can feel a crinkle like a potato chip bag when I bend it around by hand but substantially improved over time. I pump it up till I run out of fluid about 3 times a day. I do not know if that accelerated it becoming more supple or not. Mr. Merrix had told me it would soften up before I had a Coloplast and it has performed exactly as he told me he experienced. I do not think the pump has become softer but as with the AMS/Boston Scientific implant, the bulb is harder to pump if you start out with some fluid in the cylinders. If you start pumping from full deflate, the bulb is softer to pump all the way through they cycle. I suspect is sets the valve in a more open position.

Your crus was likely very deep, thus requiring long RTE

I was told the 24 was by special order.
