anxiety caused by defective implant device..

Postby wolfcreek » Thu May 17, 2018 7:43 am

My first implant ($22,000 cost to me) stopped working after just 4.5 years of moderate usage (left cylinder developed a leak in the crease and all the fluid leaked out when I started pumping it one day).

I got a new implant put in ($10,000 cost to me) a few months later, and now I have a great deal of anxiety whenever I think about using it. I fear that when I give it the initial inflation squeeze the bulb will go flat like it did when it blew out before.

If/when this one blows out I won't be able to get another one. Anyone else suffer from similar anxiety/concerns?

My first implant was Dec 2014, failed July 2017. Doctor never gave me reason for the failure. Second implant was October 2017. January 2018 the reservoir moved and was protruding just under the skin in my pubic pad. April 2018 repairs were made. It's been six weeks, so far so good. This last surgery was very painful. Doctor said he had to place the reservoir high into my stomach muscles. Fortunately my insurance has paid 95% of the cost. But this has been very painful and stressful to deal with. Not to mention putting your life on hold because of surgery and healing time. If it fails again I will have it removed and deal with the results. I don't have enough dick left anyways. Lol Just relax and enjoy what you have, you may never have an issue with it again. Use it as much as you can, life is too short to stress over a dick.

Well, kind of I guess. I am not able to get another if this one fails either. At least not for years. Mine has had some problems so I do have some anxiety. Last five days have been an improvement. Man would I take 4.5 years of good use out of this one. You must have had some great times during those years. I knew up front that there was a small chance this would result in a failure. But for us it seems it was an important enough part of our life that was gone that we wanted it back. I hope to have this working soon and that part of my life back. It is difficult sometimes to stay positive. This place has been a great to help me during those times.

Chances are good for both of us that our current device will give us 10 years of use and that part of our life back. But there are no guaranties. If yours is working well and you have that part of your life back I would think you have a lot to be thankful for. You have that part of your life back and can enjoy being well again. No way to know for sure if it will last for 5, 10, 15, or even 20 years. As the saying goes, yesterday is gone, tomorrow is guaranteed to no one, we only have today. So I would say get to making as many of those great fun times as you can and enjoy being well again. That is after all what we did this for.

Take care best of luck going forward with this.

Just curious what model of implant it was that blew out.

First one was an AMS LGX 750. Thr replacement is an LGX CX (surgeon says the CX is a bit sturdier/thicker walls than the LGX 750).
