One Month Anniversary

Exactly one month later, and I’ve come a long way. I had so much swelling and pain that I thought the implant was a failure, which is not the case. Saw Dr Eid last Wednesday and he was pleased by how much the swelling had gone down. He speculated that maybe I bled so much from the placement of the reservoir, which is rather prominent and still tender on the left side of my pubic area. He said that because I am fairly lean, he had more difficulty placing it. He asked if I was having sex yet :o
I told him I only found the release button two days ago, plus I was still somewhat swollen and in pain… I do feel that he has a little bit of a disconnect when one of his patients has a much more difficult recovery than is normal. I asked him about the flat look of the penis and also about the lost size. He simply replied, ‘This is the way it is.’ Hmm… he measured me two weeks before surgery after injecting me and wrote down the size I could expect; I am a half inch less than that. But, as someone on the site recommended, I am not measuring myself anymore. I just want to completely heal and start using this thing. On that note….
Test Drive Yesterday
Even though I am still tender in the pubic area by the reservoir and in the back of my testicles (tubing on left side fairly prominent), my girlfriend and I decided to give it a go. We took it slowly And tenderly, only the missionary position. It was awkward for me on many levels. The main thing is the angle of the penis, which is just below 3 o’clock… i’m used to more like 1:30 or 2 o’clock so I tried to adjust… my girlfriend said it felt ‘different,’ not necessarily better or worse, but just different, especially the angle… she asked me to pause after a few minutes, and we talked about how it felt, and we also just cuddled, which was very nice. Then she asked to try again. I slipped out once or twice not sure if it’s because of the angle, the lost size, or because my pubic area is still tender and I did not want to thrust all the way in. Also, she was finding it a little painful, even with some lube. Neither of us orgasmed, but we really didn’t try to.
All in all, a successful the first time, but it is something to build on, nothing close to what I would consider really good sex…and I was still in my head a lot and thinking rather than being in the moment. But again, it is a baby step and I am encouraged.
I posted separately about the flat or surfboard look and guys said that it might lessen, but you just get used to it. Right now it doesn’t feel or look natural to me, but if I’m able to have sex whenever I want to, I’m OK with that. So far, it has just been a lot of work and recovery… i’m finally able to walk without the chafing from the pubic hairs on my testes growing in, so that is very good for me mentally. This week I hope to start some light resistance training.

Congrats! It really takes time for healing so don't worry about how it feels today. 2 years in and I went through the same thing. It didn't feel natural to my wife either but that was a long time ago. Mine feels like my original. It wasn't a very long time til I started to feel good fucking. If it still bothers her you don't have to pump to max. I max mine out and she is fine with it. Not sure if you hd mentioned which one you ended up with. Coloplast Titan here and over time I got good growth both length and girth.

Always good to hear from veterans who have been through it and to hear that it gets better, thank you! I also have a Coloplast Titan.

Good to see you getting back in the saddle, certainly some adjustment period. i have / am still learning with the new 3o'clock angle my self. i've found that doggy and cowgirl positions work pretty perfectly with the 3o'clock angle. Missionary does pose some "slip risks" but you get used to it fairly quickly. Remember to allow your self time to heal between sessions its a lot of pressure in areas where you're not used to it, i got some bruising on the next day after i first tried but it clears up pretty quickly im compassion to the rest of the surgery.

Bad Experience with Dr. Eid

Postby Martin25 » Wed May 21, 2025 9:50 am

Five Months Later

I’ve been off this site for a while because I’ve been kind of depressed. My last visit with Dr. Eid in April left me feeling very down. If you read this journal, you know I had a very very difficult recovery and I also found Dr. Eid not to be particularly sympathetic…
Anyway, I saw him about 3 1/2 months after the surgery and I was in a room wearing a surgical gown open to the front. He was busy that day, so I had to wait almost an hour. He entered the room with his nurse assistant, took one look at me, and said, “You’re inflated.” No greeting, no asking how I was feeling.
I asked him what he meant. Without testing the implant, without trying to have me deflate and inflate, he told me that because I had not been completely deflating. (not true, I followed his instructions to the letter, and I had several office visits after surgery while he was on vacation with his nurse assistant who deflated me.) a capsule had formed around my reservoir, and now I would not be able to deflate completely. Then he casually said that this would limit blood flow to my penis and result in permanent shrinkage! He then said he wanted to do another surgery where he would make an incision by the reservoir and remove fluid.

I told him that I had been deflating and squeezing the penis as hard as I could, while pressing the button. Never having had an implant before, I thought it was normal to have it always retain some fluid. As stated, I had also visited his office several times after the surgery because I was so swollen and in such pain. However, Eid was on vacation during this time, and I was working with his nurse assistant.
As I tried to suppress the panic, I was feeling, I reminded Eid that I was scheduled to have a stent implanted for a cerebral aneurysm and I would need to be on blood thinner for it. At which point he said oh OK just do that it’s more important so maybe you can just give your penis a squeeze before you go to bed. Then he left the room. He was with me for a total of maybe four or five minutes (he billed my insurance my insurance company $2500 for this visit by the way, but that’s a whole different issue. I owe him thousands of dollars now because I thought when I went in several times after the surgery because of the swelling that it would be considered part of the follow up care. Evidently, it was not and each time my insurance company was billed anywhere from $2500 to $3500 for each visit, which they are not approving)
I searched this site about auto inflation and I learned that there are many guys who do leave fluid in their implants because they don’t like the dog ears or they like the feeling of being somewhat inflated. None of them have had any penis shrinkage. So, I have decided to ignore Dr. Eid for now. It turns out that I’m unable to have the surgery for my aneurysm. (a whole other story.) but I am reluctant to return to Dr. Eid to ask about what removing fluid would entail, because I can’t afford it financially.

Here is what I think— Doctor Eid, like all of us, is imperfect. He had an off day for my surgery. As a result, I had a horrible recovery with horrific swelling. I think he screwed up the placement of the reservoir because I had tremendous pain in the reservoir area, which I thought was normal. I mentioned it to the nurse assistant who said it would simply go away. What really bothers me about Dr. Eid is his lack of sympathy and his first reaction to just blame the patient. I also now know I’m going to have countless hours of haggling with my insurance company and his office regarding payment of quite a a bit of money.
I know Eid is almost a godlike figure to many men on this website, but to those people—please don’t comment and tell me how wonderful Dr. Eid is and how easy your recovery was. I had a different experience and I’m just sharing it. From the beginning, I wanted an AMS because of the size of my penis, and I know for certain that Dr. Eid has a deal with the Coloplast company. Yeah, he will bullshit you and tell you that he will install on AMS, but he will also tell you why you will have a poor result. What guy is going to choose a surgeon who says I’m going to do something that you are requesting, but I’m telling you in advance that it will be bad for you?
If I had to do it all over again, I would fly to Houston to see a younger surgeon like Dr. Clavell, who selects the type of implant based on the patient, not based on the deal he has with one particular company.

This is an important point.

I'm sorry for your situation. I consulted with Eid and stayed more local with a highly-regarded but younger surgeon. I was a bit skeptical of Eid, but I'm skeptical of doctors generally.

Like you, I had a result I'm not happy with. My surgeon had the decency to say he was sorry and has been responsive, though I do sometimes have to get assertive with the scheduler to get in. Shit happens and when it does these guys should be sensitive that you are in distress.

Martin25, I am very sorry to hear of your challenges, lack of support from your Dr, and what I would call "financial abuse" regarding office visits. FWIW, I'm pretty aggressive at getting multiple opinions when things don't seem right, and I would think you would benefit from that -- especially since there's a cloud of mystery around your difficult outcome. And yes, $2500-$3500 for a visit that's mostly just talking for a few minutes seems abusive. Even more so because they didn't advise you of that extraordinary charge in advance. Sending best wishes that you find a better path forward and resolution as quickly as possible.

Thank you, Chuck, and to anyone else who offers support. I only came back on the site because someone reached out to me to ask me about my experience with Dr. Eid. I’m glad I did come back because it’s good to hear from other guys….

Martin25, appreciate that. Yes, I saw your post in the thread about Eid -- I think that's an important contribution.

In the end you got the size he promised you?

Also you discovered what size of implant you got?

Very rare that he did not tell you in my opinion.
Injury that caused venous leak.
In my 20s thinking about implant
