When I realised that my IPP was never going to work, I did regret it for a while, I felt that I should have known better, after every other treatment option had failed, and that there was no point in going on, ( with ED treatment, not with life), this came after about 10 years of no erection whatsoever and a period of three years when I lost my Mother, Father, dog and, worst of all, my son
However, life goes on, I eventually came to see that I had simply been unlucky to get a defective prosthethis and that it was worth another shot, I am currently awaiting a date for a complete revision, with all the pain, inconvenience and embarrassment that will entail.
The sexual urge is, short of immediate survival, one of the strongest we have, and will not be denied.
Are you happy with your implant?

Sorry to hear about your situation, that sounds pretty awful psychologically. Did your IPP fail right out of the box or shortly after surgery? Will your revision be another Rigicon, or another brand? (EDIT: never mind, I see in your signature it will be an AMS).
All the best on getting a satisfactory resolution.

Niall4473,
a horrible experience, really sorry for you, also all the psychological trauma around.
You deserve another implant, that will be working and bring back the joy in your life, really waiting to hear your success story soon.
All the best

I would think that the damage would be far worse for a guy in his 20's & 30's compared to a guy in his 70's & 80's. For that reason I'd think a guy in his 20's & 30's might place an even higher value on restoring this basic male capability, with all the benefits to relationships, and ability to be mutually pleasing with his partner(s). I'm interested in hearing how guys in their 20's & 30's view this.
For me, I am in a long term relationship, and can tell you that the ability to please my wife in this way is absolutely the greatest benefit of having chosen this path. Despite the risks and struggles, both now and in the future, I am very very thankful.

I am extremely happy with my IPP! It restored my ability to have sex any time anywhere! Celebrating 39 years with my wife and this IPP has also restored our marriage. ED had taken over my confidence amongst many other issues it caused with the wife and I. It took 6-8 months to learn to trust this new thing I have and after 6-8 months it has completely restored my wife and my marriage! Sex is fun again and at time very spontaneous!
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast with Classic pump 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong

Young guys are less satisfied with implants because they have multiple revisions? Nobody here with 20 years with an implant is evidence they don't exist?
For someone who alleges to be a doctor, I can’t understand how you can have this bad of an understanding of scientific method, even if you are faking it.
The first posts on this site were in 2010. So guys who got implanted twenty years ago likely don’t even know this site exists, much less post here to satisfy your exigency of evidence of their existence. If this site is like most sites, its audience has grown over time. Huh… I wonder if a growing audience on this site might correlate with an expressed recency of implantation? Ya think?
25,000 dudes get implanted every year in the US alone. And there’s what… several dozen regular posters here? Why anyone would think that self selected bunch constitutes a representative sample is nuts.
Look, it would be very courteous to simply politely point out your failures of reasoning. But you are doing people a serious disservice by giving them really, really bad information. Unfortunately, that is a problem across the internet: contrarians that like to hear themselves talk. We call them trolls. Do your own research, sheeple.
Guys: please get your info on failure rates, revisions, satisfaction, etcetera, from your doctor and ignore the trolls. Sheesh.
Be well,
Leto

PowerliftingDad,
Your further insights may be helpful to some guys on this topic.
Your tag indicates that you had your first implant 28 years ago, but it only lasted six years. And then you waited 20 years to get a revision?
Your history and enthusiasm seem to contradict concerns expressed about living with fears of implant failure during the decades of forming families and building careers.

Re: Are you happy with your implant?
Very happy. 9/10. Gets better every week. Things are still dealing and I'm about to be at the 6 month mark. It's subtle things. In the first few months I had a really difficult time wearing jeans because the material is so stiff and would rub against me uncomfortably. Now, it's basically no issue. Maybe has something to do with the nerve regeneration around the subcoronal incision. It's amazing to feel that I have my life back.
I have a real sex life again. For the first time since age 20. And no pumps, no tubes, no reservoir to worry about. I'm ready all the time and it's given me so much confidence. It's easy to conceal. I don't have any problems in public. Basically everything is great. I almost can't believe it.
I'm still on my antidepressant but I think that's because I'm just genetically predisposed to that. For the record, I love Wellbutrin. Gives you drive if you don't have it because of depression. Makes it easier to enjoy life and not hate yourself, if you're deficient in dopamine like me (and my Russian bloodline). But — the implant fixed one of the biggest things in my life that was causing even more depression on top of what I'd have simply as a result of having my genes.
I wish I did it sooner, because if I did it years ago it might have been fully covered by my insurance at the time. I paid out of pocket. No regrets. But if I ever need a revision (knock on wood) I'm going to make sure that it's at least partly covered by my insurance plan.
