In penoscrotal installs, the abdominal incision is usually for a drain or to assist in placement of the reservoir. In infrapubic installs, the incision is for the surgery but is usually right above the penis.

In Steve's case I'll guess that his is probably for the drain but he probably has more accurate info that his doctor gave him.

Wayne is correct. The surgeon, in my case, told me he would be making an incision for better reservoir placement. I think, IMHO this approach make for slightly longer surgery times.

I have it on the left side for placing the reservoir. Probably because of my inguinal hernia. I am not sure if everyone needs this horizontal incision.

I chose the Infra Pubic technique for that reason, one incision in a better location than the scrotum in my opinion!Very happy with my result.

I also have infra-pubic. My Hernia repair with a mesh is the reason why I got the horizonal incision in my abdomen.

I would have preferred infra pubic, I think. However, given how difficult and invasive the surgery was (3 hours) due to the very large dorsal plaque mass, I am not sure I could have been implanted other than penoscrotal. The surgeon had to insert and take out the implant 3 times before it was in place.

WOW!!

Were you awake (local anesthetic) during the process (and able to count the 3 times) or did you get the information later?

What an ordeal.

Congratulations.

No, they knocked me out moments after I arrived in the OR. Dr. told my husband after the surgery. I remember none of it.

Just got home from post surgery follow-up. Surgeon very pleased with my healing, as am I. Never had much swelling and not all that much bruising all things considered, and those are gone. Doc examined penis and scrotum and proceeded to deflate the implant and squeeze all of the fluid out. Then he began pumping up my dick. Amazing sight to see, but I thought I was going to pass out or throw up on him. My sac is a still more tender than I thought, and the pressure he was putting on the scrotal incision was fucking excruciating. That incision still has scabs on part of it. He pumped me to the max I think, and my dick was sticking out like a steel bar. Wow, what a feeling! He took his finger, pushed down on the head of my dick and let it spring back up, saying, "well, there's what you've got, and it's going to get bigger over the next several months." He deflated me to what I would guess is about 25%.

He doesn't want me cycling until after I meet with the AMS rep for training on 3/19. In the mean time, I am supposed to spend as much time as possible pulling down on the pump to get it to sit lower in my sac. My right ball does not like it's new roommate. Then I'll cycle till my next Dr visit on 4/5, when he anticipates that I can start having sex. WooHoo!!! It's going to be a long month knowing what my dick can now do, and I can't use it.
