Quick afternoon update:

Hakky said he’s not worried about bladder and emptying - I have noticeable bruising and swelling that he feels is weakening my stream. Gave me a prescription to help me pee better for the time being.

Pain is still okay, haven’t taken any oxy yet today. But I do feel some sensation coming back and with it, soreness.

Fun fact - Hakky mentioned that my surgery only took 30 minutes 8-) he also mentioned, unfortunately, that I didn’t bleed at all (which is a sign that I REALLY needed the implant, no blood in the tissues). Crazy. Really makes me feel even more confident in my choice.

Another fun fact: - Hakky decided to only undersize me by 5 mm instead of the full cm. I think his thinking was that because I’m younger and generally quite healthy that he could preserve a little bit more of my size. One of the many reasons I’m grateful I went with him - and really stresses the importance of going to an experienced surgeon that you trust.

I'm one of the lucky ones that didn't have any problems filling a jug immediately after the surgery was over. I'm grateful for that. But the urinary issues you're describing are pretty common. There's a lot of internal swelling.

Crazy, though. 30 minute surgery and no bleeding? You definitely made the right choice.

Excited and hopeful that you'll continue to recover well!

Thanks Duke! Really appreciate it.

One thing I’m noticing is that my size seems smaller today than when I originally got out of surgery. Bruising and swelling is much more significant today than yesterday, so I’m wondering if that’s at play here. I have a picture from surgery where my penis seems to look a bit longer compared to where it’s at right now.

Only time will tell - right now, with the bruising and swelling, I’m clocking in around 4.3 inches. Hoping that my end size will be closer to 4.5 or above.

Yeah, you need to give it time. Immediately post surgery, you're going to be girthy and huge because of the inflammation and bruising and trauma recovery that occurs basically instantly. But over time, that'll ease up. Don't judge the apparent size of your implanted penis except under absolutely ideal conditions. You need warm ambient air, or to be in a warm tub (not a hot tub) and to be aroused to really know where you stand. But right now your focus is solely on recovery and maintaining a living environment that is as free as possible of potential bacterial interference.

Take your Keflex twice a day (or however prescribed) exactly on schedule (if it was given to you). Don't be a hero when it comes to pain pills — you want to anticipate the pain so you don't run into a situation where you feel you really need the drugs and it's too late because then you need to metabolize the painkillers, which takes time. Stay hydrated. Track your protein intake. Keep up with electrolytes. Get things delivered to your home, if you can. Don't walk around anywhere unless you absolutely need to. Don't lift anything over 8 to 10 pounds or so. Make sure you're sleeping on your back, with your hips elevated using a pillow, to aid with drainage and circulation.

And don't freak out at this suggestion, but take your temperature a few times a day, just to make sure you're not dealing with a latent infection. I was an absolute insane person and took my temperature every 4 hours for the first month or so. Kept it all in a spreadsheet in case the worst happened and my doctor needed to know the timeline. Can you tell I work in management consulting? Lol.

Anyway, these are the things that helped me. I imagine Hakky gave you an awesome list and some great resources.

I know there's a lot of drama on this forum about size loss, but it's very difficult to even apprehend clearly what that even means. Your tissues are going to continue to change and adapt for the better part of a year. Probably even longer. The penis is dynamic tissue and very complex, and you're just getting started on your journey. Some days you're going to look huge. Some days you're going to look small, or smaller than normal.

Take into account that ambient temperature, hydration, sleep, stress, arousal, average blood pressure over the course of a week, etc. are all going to impact how large your penis looks at any given moment. After I'm done exercising, sometimes my penis looks pretty small in the shower. But a couple hours later, I'm back in business. This is because the body naturally pushes blood to the areas it needs most under stress/exercise.

And finally: Even if I was guaranteed to lose an inch off my penis, I'd still consent to the procedure. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.
