Are you happy with your implant?

Very satisfied with my implant. So much so that I am counting the days to my revision. Original failed recently and i am missing the ability to be as “normal” as I can given the circumstances of prostate cancer related ED. Its unfortunate that there are those here that are not satisfied and have truly had difficult surgeries and less than perfect outcomes. The reality is the implant offers hope. If we didn’t need hope, none of us would be here. For those unsatisfied brothers that are newly implanted please be patient because as others have said it does get better with time !

Somebody already brought up this topic in this thread, specifically asking about young men. I responded from the perspective of a young man, reflecting the concerns of this demographic and potential reasons behind dissatisfaction within this specific subset of patients.

Yet, each time I engage, I get bombarded by older men who have only had their implants for a couple of months or, at most, a couple of years. How about not inserting yourself into a discussion that doesn’t really concern you—especially if your sole purpose is to shut down any critical discussion?

Please allow me to offer some gentle, constructive criticism.

Everybody on this board (especially in the implants section) is suffering or has suffered to some degree, this board exists for mutual support in that suffering. No matter what the topic title is or who it's aimed at, many people who are not the target may have opinions, want to weigh in, and want to be heard.

Frankly, your reaction to the older guys responding in the other thread was over the top -- profanity laced accusations and admonishments, amounting to "shut the fuck up, boomer." Just remember that these are guys that have all suffered in their own way, many of them for decades, and just want to voice their joy at having fixed their issue...maybe they think young guys could get inspired by that and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Instead of yelling at them, maybe just a gentle statement in the thread of "I really want to hear from the younger guys and their experiences" or "Let's not get too far off-topic here" would come across much better.

I know it's the internet and it's very easy to get frustrated and pounce on posts you don't like. But this forum is really kind of unique in that everybody here wants all the other members to succeed and overcome their issues. Looking at it from that perspective might recast those posts you don't like as meant to be inspirational and not taunting.

thanks, that's exactly the aim of us "old guys" posting here, to show that there is light at the end of the tunnel and motivate them to look positive in that direction. Franktalk is the place for support and encouragement in this debilitating disease of many men, suffering many years.
Most of us started to suffer with ED, while some guys here were even not born yet!
Let' continue to support again and not to discourage.

Totally agree with ElbowRoom! The site is a place to post opinions knowledge and not attack people.

I’m a younger guy and very aware of the fact the site has more older members. You can choose what you read so why should any member not get involved in discussion. For myself personally if I’m to have an implant it is useful hearing an older perspective on things.

It is okay to like or dislike an implant. Listening to both sides keeps potential patients from regretting if there is trouble such as loss of sensitivity due to unintended nerve damage/trauma, since these issues are often irreversible beyond waiting up to a year with hope for possible nerve regeneration! No need to silence or shut down those who have had a bad experience either!

You guys keep on assembling Straw Men to argue with. Absolutely no one is silencing brothers that have had a bad experience. People are shutting down guys that make stuff up. Tooyoung in particular is getting called out for giving out bad bad bad information. And not by older guys or guys with IPPs either. Duke Cicero is 30 and has a malleable, and is one of his biggest critics. I’m 50. None of this has anything at all to do with being old, having a malleable, or being a success story. It’s everything to do with making stuff up.

What qualifies as good or bad information?

Is it determined by popular opinion or by logical analysis of facts step by step?
