What is your surgeon telling you about your prognosis?

I only saw him a few days after the surgery and didn't notice that the incision went underneath the frenulum. I really only noticed it today, as I have been bandaging the incision and thought the numb feelings were normal after such a violent surgery.

I'm pretty sure he cut right through the dorsal nerve

If you had a penoscrotal incision you may have less to worry about, but I understand some of the nerve branches start there
Born 6/15/74. I have substantial venous leak with fairly severe hour-glassing, but no hard plaques. My urologist is Dr. Laurence Levine who performed a Doppler Ultrasound and diagnosed me with VL in 2020. Surgery scheduled for Coloplast Genesis 5/19/25

The dorsal nerve is, as its name implies, on the dorsal/top side of the penis so an incision on the frenulum shouldn't have permanently damaged it

That makes sense.

But why is it so numb after 3 weeks?

I'm guessing it's ennervated by another nerve

I think when the nerves get bumped around during surgery they get temporarily numb- seems like most guys on here report that it mostly returns within a year. Mine is also mostly back though there are some permanent changes to sensation near the incision, at least for me

I wish I had never done this. I got so caught up in wanting to keep an effortless hard on I didn't appreciate the sensation I had. I couldn't have sex anymore, but at least my penis felt alive and the sensation in the morning was beautiful.

There is more to life than penetration.

I hear you man. There are definitely big sacrifices to the natural penis when we get implanted. You've got a long way to go in healing though at only a couple weeks in. Your penis will get much more healed in that time

Mark1974,

You are I are recently implanted and are having serious doubts about what we have done. My dick is numb and I can’t have an orgasm. The thought of spending the rest of my life this way (after cancer, years of ED, suffering through all of the fucked up “remedies” like injections and the pain of the implant completely messes) with my head. Having said that, people on this forum have repeatedly told me that things will get better and the numbness will resolve. I have no choice but to believe them that this will get better and that someday I will have a working dick and a robust sex life with the woman that I love. What choice do we have? All of my anger at this point is directed at the medical implant industry which in my opinion, provides absolutely no support for people like you and I … the 20% who wind up with numb dicks. They should be at our sides, giving us encouragement and counseling us as to how we can best improve our chances of a positive outcome. They are not and seemingly want nothing to do with people who have less than perfect results. The fact that we have to resort to an Internet forum to figure out what is happening to us is a disgrace. I will try to stay positive and I encourage you to do the same.
