Sorry for the delayed update. Been a struggle to stay positive and I’m one that would almost rather say nothing rather than be negative. So after 13 days on these new antibiotics I’m having pain in proximal end and more intense pain in glans than previously. Can’t cycle without lots of pain. Emailed Dr and got a call back within a couple hours and we agreed that infection is likely winning the battle. We discussed options and we’ve decided to check me in hospital on 8th and start IV antibiotics for 4 days, then next Tuesday on the 12th I’ll go in for a salvage surgery at which point Dr will assess the situation and degree of infection after IVs. At this point I will totally trust him to decide whether to go back with a new IPP or an MPP. Said if things look good he would feel ok with doing a very deep cleaning and flush all and go back with new IPP. Obvious would be the easiest choice as to avoid another surgery in 6 months or so to go back with IPP if I had to go with MPP. Fingers crossed and prayers going up that I get the IPP and don’t have any more complication. I’ve accepted the possibility of waking up with an MPP and if that’s the case I’m good with it for however long I have to wait to go back with IPP. Would most likely do all I could to do it before the years end as to avoid another $3,700 out of pocket insurance pay.
I don’t hold any hard feelings to the Dr as he very rarely has an infection. I simply drew the short straw. I’m the 1-2% person that happened to get an infection. I still am impressed with his attitude with what I’m going thru and his sincere apologies that I’m having to. Next couple weeks will be big. Will update shortly after surgery on 12th with what I wound up getting.

This is a very tricky situation. I had an infection and let it linger with antibiotics, but ultimately ended up with a malleable and now back to inflatable. I think if the swelling is controlled and your surgeon agrees try to avoid another surgery if possible.

What was the reason for your switch to a CX after 3 yrs of the Titan, discomfort, pain?

Did not go back with CX. Look at my signature. Both have been Titans

Hang in there, Rider1400. You’re handling this with real strength trusting your surgeon and staying positive. Infections and revisions are just a maintenance feature, not a bug with this implant lifestyle. Getting the IV antibiotics and thorough cleaning positions you well for a successful salvage with the IPP you want. Hoping for smooth days ahead and the best outcome on the 12th. You’ve got this, we’re all rooting for you.
