Had my appointment this AM to see my consultant surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary, he told me that they no longer implant the Rigicon because of 'poor outcomes', and mine is going to have to be removed in it's entirety and replaced with what he called a "Boston", more details when I have them.

Who was it you spoke to that told you this BTW?

I just had an email back from Manchester Royal Infirmary today about whether they would continue implanting Rigicon Inflatable Penile Prosthesis and they said:

"Yes we still offer this implant. There were issues with the first model but second is ok."

This was from the Secretary / PA of the main implanting consultants.

As I said before, I would not bandy anybody's name about the Internet without their express consent, but it was one of the principals, as you said.
I am not making this up, that is what he told me last Friday in a face-to-face consultation.

I understand. Very interesting. I wonder what the discrepancy is then. Perhaps the consultants have taken this view and it hasnt yet trickled down to the wider team. I wonder what she means by the first model and second model. Has there been a significant modification?

Rigicon had hardware failures in their early models. They released the pulse pump in 2024 which is their latest model and so far they have had good reception.

Plenty of people in the forum have rigicons.

I'm sure there are some happy Rigicon patients, but Niall's account seems convincing as he is adamant about what the consultants have advised.... There must be something to it for them to have told him this
