I stretched out 6.5 inches in my doctor's office I now have all that back. When I came home from the surgery I had 3.5 inches 
Never heard of erosion but technology is changing all the time. The most important is to go with a dr that does at least 75 or more a year. My doctor at Duke does100-125 and I can highly recommend him. We are only talking about stay over night so I would go where the best dr is.
