Thanks, everyone.

Things went well, knock on wood. Just got catheter and drain removed, and was able to pee--albeit sideways. My pee hole is gonna need to rebound :D Other than right after surgery whatever pain I have is controlled with Tylenol, Gabapentin, and ketolorac. Size of implant same as before, but now a Titan and a lot fewer RTEs.

I managed to lose the patient information pack with my hard-earned pump key fob. Coloplast is sending another.

Hey Courage, wishing you the best of luck in your recovery man. Was wondering your take on the salvage MPP and if you don’t mind speaking in a bit more detail about your experience with it / why you feel like it wasn’t a good fit for you? I know you mentioned some problems with penetrative sex?

I ask because I’m weighing out the MPP as an option. I’m in my early thirties so have a long revision horizon in front of me / favor simplicity of the surgery and device, but it’s important to also be weighing out some of the negative experiences I’ve been hearing also!

Once again, wish you the best in your recovery!
First consultation with Dr Hakky on August 6th, 2025! Excited to get discussions going. Interested in MPP.

It's been five days since the last update...any news? I hope everything is going well in your recovery!

Briefly, I had a floppy glans and the MPP was undersized both in terms of width and length, possibly because of the limitations of the salvage surgery. The rods were poking at the side of the shaft. I am gay and penetrative sex requires higher axial rigidity.

Since you are not in the same situation you might have a happier experience.

I'm doing okay. Some points of soreness in the shaft and some pain around the reservoir, particularly after doing a lot of walking or standing or bending. The doctor had to repair the tunica, do extracapsular tunneling to get the tips seated in the glans, and put in rte slings (because--in my words--not the surgeons's--the malleable rods "poked through the back"). I'm not sure but I think the rods of the salvage malleable were like a wrecking ball in there. I'm a bit loopy from gabapentin, which they gave me as a painkiller. I'm told not to do anything sexual, including masturbation, for six weeks.

Sounds like you're on the road and the recovery is as expected so far. I wonder why the MPP caused so much damage? Maybe the tissues were already weakened from the previous infection.

I don't know. Tooyoung and his alter ego JohnnyBorg asked about my malleable experience and I can't say the problem was malleables generally--it was put in as a medical necessity in adverse circumstances rather than as a first choice. I'm trying to move forward and not guess at things I'm never going to have the answers to.

I will add, one of the uros I saw about revision said the malleable was put in to preserve the capsule. It did that.

I’m glad at the least it was able to preserve the capsule. Appreciate the feedback and context from your reply earlier in the thread, fingers crossed that this time around it’s a smooth recovery and you end up with an outcome you’re happy with!
