Is it possible that there is kink preventing fluid from getting into the tubes?

Possible. But far more likely you just need to break that bulb's virginity and apply a hell of a lot more pressure on it than you would ever believe possible, to get it going. I couldn't figure it out, either. My first successful was via the understanding and experienced hands of Levine's (female) PA...after that the bulb was still resistant, but less so every day.

I finally got it kind of figured out. It is pumping. After about 8 pumps the bulb is rock hard but I’m not. It’s more “chubby” than erection.
I suppose I just need to trust the process and hope that my penis gets bigger with time.

Good deal. Keep going. That bulb will fucking fight you for awhile. When it goes 8 pumps, gather your courage and steady your balls and do anything you can to force pump #9 out of it. Rest. Deflate. Repeat. Do it again. Next time try for pump #10. Repeat. This really is the in-the-trenches part of implants that no one can truly make you understand prior until you're standing there dumbfounded by how hard you can in fact press that thing.

Stephen54: Very good advice that every new implantee should memorize.
We've all see handicapped people, stroke victims or amputees struggle doing therapy. Getting used to a new implant takes the same level of dedication in order to get a successful outcome.

Agree entirely. So much of this is about level-setting one's expectations and then just moving more slowly than you want, but still deliberately, methodically ahead, and finding some way to not beat yourself up about perceived pace of progress. Biggest enemy I found in the early going was myself, and balancing excitement and energy of the new world against the often snails' pace of forward progress. But then it clicks..

Is deflating good or is it better to leave as inflated as possible?

Mine is getting better. At the beginning I could not pump even once. Now I can pump maybe five or six times. Still a struggle. Also could not deflate. However after watching these videos, I am now using my thumb instead of index finger. This is helping.

In the early going of course you are cycling - up/down repeat - but it is critical when deflating to deflate as much saline as feasible back up into the reservoir. The (still-healing) space the reservoir now occupies needs to be trained to accommodate the dimension of the fully filled reservoir; if you don't do this, you can develop a capsular deformity/capsular contraction and that is going to make things very problematic for the proper functioning of reservoir + implant.
