Interesting topic. I was wondering the same. My implant was June 1st and I've been cleared to have sex but I have not yet. Still very tender and I wanted to do everything possible to not get an infection.

I have a gay cruise coming up the end of July.

I'm hoping the tenderness improves by the end of the month before the trip and I will have waited 2 months before having sex so hopefully my chances of getting an infection are down to zero of course with the exception of a UTI.

Like I said, the implant is a closed system. If you are all healed, and you do get an infection, then it is something else:(
Follow your Dr's instructions. If you have been cleared to have sex, go for it. Internally is a different story. I did not have penetrative sex until 7 months after my surgery. I was cleared and all healed after a month (long story), but internally, bodies heal differently. If you are still tender, listen to your body. The medical community does not know everything, if they did, cancer and all these rare diseases would be memory.
Good luck!

All good recommendations, as usual. I always clean before and after a/s. Never had an issue. Waited until I healed completely before vaginal or anal sex.

As I recall Perito had a patient who did not listen to him and had sex with his wife too soon. As it turns out some fecal material got him infected with flesh eating disease and his penis was amputated to save his life. There was a law suit. I think you can google it for details.

Hmmm....curiosity got me. Read 3 articles.
No mention of fecal matter or anal sex, but they did mention the 'sex too soon'.
Can you sight the source of the anal/fecal issue?
The only thing I could think of, if it was too soon, was that all was not healed and the horny fucker just bent his wife over and said 'fuck it', which he did

iwantanewone wrote:Sorry guys. I was not clear! I’m with my spouse 36 years. Always bareback anal sex. Never a UTI.

What I am concerned about is the chances that anal sex could cause an infection of the penile implant.

Not likely as it's a "closed system", meaning the skin of the scrotum and penis are sealed against the outside world and its bacterial risks. The urethra although running through the penis, is a separate structure.

Now it might be remotely possible if you had unprotected anal sex and in that one event, the tip had eroded enough through to extrude through either the urethra or the skin of the penis - you could very likely get an infection to the area around the device. This is highly rare though and if the implant causes erosion and extrusion it will most likely have to be removed for some time to repair and recover from the damage, or at least they would do some sort of antibacterial salvage procedure to try to mitigate any infection risks. If this was to happen during anal sex, it would be in the man's best interest to tell the doctor during the appointment to discuss the salvage as this would likely cause the doctor to take a different more cautious approach during the upcoming surgical procedure.

As I said though, this scenario is HIGHLY RARE as it would almost have to be a perfect storm of too much pressure on the tips for too long, causing erosion (thinning of the tissues) and an extrusion of the tip (eruption through said tissues), and at the same time as performing unprotected anal sex. Definitely a perfect storm.

I've initiated anal sex on several occasions and even a short time after getting the green light for sex there was no pain. The trick I used is to employ "digital dilation" of the anus. Using one finger, then two, then three or more to stretch the orifice until it's relaxed enough, it makes penetration quite easy and without pain.
