Tomas1, interesting story. I'm glad it turned out well for you. Just curious, is there a chance that the member you talk about was implanted before your doctor went to the "no touch" surgical routine? I've kind of gotten the impression that adopting that practice really reduced the infection rate.

I would want the surgeon to do at least 100 a year.

My reading suggests that most of the higher volume surgens do between 100 to around 150 a year. My planned surgeon claimed to average 150 over the span of a few years. He expected to fall short of that in 2020 because of Covid restictions on getting sugery & room slots at the hospital that he uses.

I really don't know if he uses the "no touch" method.
I did think he had fat fingers putting my reservoir in.
I felt like I had a hernia for several months.

I would think that 100 a year would be good.
I do know that my surgeon also has office hours most days a week and even does other surgeries.

When I asked my surgeon said that "right now", implying during Covid he was down to 2 or 3 a week. That's still a significant number.

I did considerable research for over a year including this website which was very instrumental in my decision to go forward. I actually went with the manufacturer of the one I felt best fit my needs, & have no regrets. My surgeon suggested the other manufacturer, but left it up to me as he implants either one. I was really nervous leading up to getting my implant, & for a few weeks after. Good luck, Bailey

Number of surgeries is important to stay away for the ones who do a few a year. One a week is not a disqualifying factor to me or even 2 a month. The doctor has to have a real concern for your outcome. 2 a week and above should be good but you need to ask more questions. You need a doctor that has enough concern to stay up to date with current information on giving you the best out come.

Top question for me is dose the doctor do revisions. Revisions or replacements are more difficult for the doctor and not all do them. So this is very import and gives you an idea of the doctors skill level.

Second is activation time. Or how long before your doctor will have you start cycling. This paper show a relation of size loss pre vs. post op to longer activation times. https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... prosthesis So the doctors having you wait 8 weeks really accept that.
Injections failed. Implanted 3-21-18 AMS 700 LGX 21 + 1 RTE 100 cc reservoir 6.5" L 5" G Dr. Kramer.

Proximal Perforation Sling Repair 4/13/21 Dr. Broghammer
