Go with Tatem. I've been following him for a while now and having convos with him. I plan on using him for my initial implant in 2021 when insurance kicks in. If there is an exclusion on my plan then I will do the AMS financing like you.

Tatem, while young, is clearly in love with doing IPP and up to date on all the latest innovations. Just looking through his twitter replies you can see that.

Realized I've spelled my new implant doctor's name incorrectly. It's Tatem. Oops. But on to more important matters. I met with him this morning. I want to say again that, given the unfortunate cirumstances, it's pretty much a miracle I was able to see him so soon after realizing that something was wrong with my implant. I only found out about the trouble last friday, and here I am, not even a week later, so much farther along on this grueling journey of revision. I am already in a much lighter and clearer space, instead of having to sit in the dark for maybe a month or more without even being to see someone about what to do next.

My impression of Dr. Tatem is that, though he is only 33, he is a dedicated high volume penile implant surgeon. It seems that most weeks he's doing 4 or 5 implant surgeries, and plenty of revisions. He's familiar with tough cases. I trust him. He was clear in his approach and interests and preferences, and compassionate about my situation. He inspected my implant because he initially believed that it may have become glitchy in a specific sense. He explained it and I forgot the fine details, but I guess it is possible for some pumps to get stuck a certain way, and they have to be finagled into functioning correctly, though the device isn't truly broken.

But after wrestling with my device for a few minutes, he told me I needed a revision. There was a telltale gurgling/bubbling sound when pressing the pump that indicated a breakage and a leak. Initially he said he wanted to swap the AMS CX with a Titan, but I told him about my financial situation, and how I would be paying out of pocket, and he was fine with using a new CX, because I will not have to pay the costs for a new implant of the same brand. That takes the out of pocket cost down from 17,000 to a mere 7,000. I know 7,000 is still a lot, but it's really not that far off from the deductibles of many insurance plans. For me, as a poor bohemian without insurance, the 10,000 dollar difference is the difference between just paying up front and having to take out loans and engage in more stressful and time consuming financial manuevering.

He thinks the Titan is slightly more durable, especially so for younger men, but what the hell, I think this is the way forward, balancing different interests. I'll have to get another at a still relatively young age, and maybe by then I'll be in a better financial/insurance position and I can get a Titan. I am also thinking, especially at this point, that I don't necessarily believe there can really be a genuine girth/size difference between an AMS and a Titan. You have what you have, all implants are fitted to your existing (not fantasy) anatomy. Sure, there is such a thing as being given a device that is too short, and there are special narrow implants for scarred cavernosa, but I think girth and hardness differences between two normally and expertly fitted devices of different brands is just marketing. Tatem also thinks he can upsize my CX. My first was a 21 cm with 3 cm rear tips, so I think the gameplan is to at least give me a 24 cm device without rear tips, but maybe more. But I don't think I even give a shit either way. I just want a functioning penis so I can connect to someone I care about and am attracted to. I happen to be single right now, but I don't even want this for the ability to just fuck around. I want the confidence and the power to make love to a woman worthy of it.

Dr. Tatem mentioned he prefers infrapubic approach, and said he can do revisions that way too. So now my obsessive ass will need to watch some videos of the infrapubic surgery, maybe from Perito. All I'm waiting on now is a call from his financial and scheduling people to get the finances in order and set a date for a surgery. Here's to hoping I'm not waiting too long.
