If you have a VED or traction now would definitely be the time to use it. Months without day or night-time erections can take a toll on length. Good luck.

If I could have had (and known) an implant the same day as the prostatectomy, I would have. The longer you wait the more you will wish you hadn't. I still maintain the fabulous success some of the younger ones have here is because they implant soon rather than wait till more damage occurs. Same with us post prostatectomy. Do use a vacuum pump diligently and often. d

Floppy,
“Nerve Spating Surgery is a method where the goal is to save nerves so you can still get an erection. However, sometimes the cancer is intertwined with the nerves so that is not possible. A friend of mine had the same results with a highly qualified surgeon. I am sorry you are having problems, but if it means no cancer left in your body, that is more important.

Radiation does not damage non-living tissue and it does not have enough density to block the radiation. It also would likely not even be in the narrow radiation field. If your internal abdominal area is not healed and especially if you had robotic surgery, placing the reservoir a problem, however. Robotic surgery scrambles your pelvic organs far more than open surgery.

I had my RRP in Nov/14. Nerves could only be spared on one side. Was advised to wait two years to see if erections would come back naturally. They did not. Had my implant May/17. Used my VED for both therapy to maintain length as well as for sex with a tension ring. Looking back, it was unlikely that i could get erections as my nerves had to be cut due to the tumor protruding outside the prostate. If i had to do it all again, i would have been implanted as soon as i healed from the RRP. Fortunately, it all worked out. Satisfied with my implant and i have remained cancer free for 4 years. Life is good !

Hawkman,
I totally agree with you. I had robotic RP in November of 2016 and I had scaring tissue around base of my penis. Surgeon was not able to place reservoir into retropubic place ( space of Retzius) trying on both sides , so he needed another incision which is exactly on the belt line, half way between base of my penis and umbilicus. My reservoir was placed slightly right of my umbilicus. After surgery, he told me about trouble with scar tissue and problem with finding space for reservoir and also said about unusual scarring around base of the penis so neither side he was able to dilate enough for safely placing the reservoir. It took him 85 minutes to complete surgery.

One month from surgery getting a little exited and nervous feeling like this is the last resort. I’m comfortable with the surgeon I chose and look forward to getting through the recovery. I’m not sure if I should be waiting longer like most others do but I just don’t think there is any hope for things to get better on their own.

Floppy, If you needed Viagra prior to surgery, your chances of an erection post surgery are little to none unless you use a VED or injections.
Best of Luck !
