Revision/Replacement Recovery?

Postby lionsmane » Sat Jun 27, 2026 9:09 pm

Not that I'll be needing it anytime soon, but how much easier is it to recover from any revision or replacement operation, compared to the first? Share any relevant details.
Thanks

I had a device swap recently, and it was significantly easier than the first one. Just Tylenol and Ibuprofen as needed, and I was good to go.

I can’t speak for revisions after complications such as infection or erosion as I haven’t personally experienced one yet.

My recent replacement surgery was with complications due to impending erosion and need to reposition the distal tips into the glans.

Surgery involved replacing the cylinders and pump and moving the pump to a more favorable location. To reposition the tips higher and deeper into the glans, a dorsal capsulotomy and retunnelling of the both cylinders into the glans was performed.

Also had a complex VY flap scrotoplasty done for a reduction of penoscrotal webbing and help cover tubing underneath the skin. Also it created a larger scrotal opening giving the surgeon a better work angle for the tunneling procedure thereby avoiding subcoronal incisions. A little longer for incision to heal but will be well worth it in the long run.

All this may sound a bit gruesome but I’ve been in a much better place than I was with during every stage ofthe original implant recovery for these past 8 weeks.
