TEP, Auxetic, upsizing

Postby splitpeach » Thu Jun 11, 2026 8:49 pm

There's talk of undergoing Auxetic cuts or Tunica Expansion Procedure and upsizing implants on revision.

What I don't understand here is that the surgical capsule is formed on the first implantation (as there was obviously no foreign body there before). Upon creation, I understand once fully formed it can no longer be modified.

So then how can it be possible that any further expansion can happen whether by surgical cuts or by a larger implant? Surely, after first implant, whatever you achieve in those first few months is what the surgical capsule will be limited to and what your maximum size is forever?

IIRC, it’s micro incisions that expand like an accordion. Don’t matter if it’s the first implant or revision. The tissue is cut, stretched, heals.

So yes, an corpus cavernousum forms
with its implant, but upon a revision, whole new opportunity.

Been a while, but I do recall watching that procedure when I was down that rabbit hole…or was it a research paper? Think it was a paper.

I used to think that Auxetic cuts and Tunica Expansion Procedure are one and the same. Nop. Don't know the exact difference but not the same thing according to Hakky. I think Valenzuela is the only doctor in the US that does the later.

Funny, I read a lot of great things about Valenzuela but only second hand. It seems that not a single person on this forum was implanted by him, neither here nor on FB. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Who told you a surgical capsule can’t be modified?? do you think it’s made of titanium?

A capsule starts forming in days, but it is just connect tissue. Just like yoga for the ligaments cycling stretches out of your capsule. That’s the whole point.

This contradicts everything I've read and seen about implants. It seems unanimous that the advice is that cycling in the initial months is crucial and that any further gains is limited after the first six months because of the formation of the surgical capsule.

Why would there be such focus on early cycling if the surgical capsule is permanently modifiable. The previous explanations make more sense if anything
