It's my observation as well as that of many others I've talked to (usually lurkers, so they won't get labeled by the cult), especially younger guys for obvious reasons. Most importantly, it's consistent with observations from MAUDE, which appear to confirm a similar range.

Refer to Kohler's study. I agree that the two factors you mentioned are somewhat modifiable factors. But again, there are also nonmodifiable factors that increase infection risk with each subsequent revision (as detailed in Kohler's study), and the only solution to that is adequate mechanical reliability.
Unfortunately, companies seem unwilling to pursue meaningful improvements in that area when, according to Coloplast, roughly 30% of surgeries are revisions, especially in light of the relentless asskissing coming from FT's death cult.

Thanks again. But regarding the attitude, believe me, I tried to speak my mind in a "civilized" way, yet the death cult would instantly label me a troll or fearmonger. My attitude shifted when I started to realize that many of them seemed more interested in obscuring and shutting down negative feedback than engaging with it, whether they were sales reps or simply devoted cult members.
What pushed me over the edge was seeing people proactively promote narratives that I consider disastrous and toxic, such as claiming that revisions are a good thing because you get a bigger implant and an easier recovery (Perito's original), or insisting that most implants routinely survive 15 to 20+ years despite evidence that I believe points to a more complicated reality. In my view, those kinds of statements deserve scrutiny and pushback.
Regardless, forget the presence of Ty.
Prove me wrong: without the excessive asskissing by the cult, wouldn't we have ended up with something closer to Kaizen/Toyota-grade implants by now?fucked0ne wrote:Many of us already have implants, and in the event of failure have only two options: 1) smack around our limp dicks, or 2) get a new one so we can have sex again. We’re not in a position to boycott the manufacturers by not buying their products; so I really don’t know what you want from us. Care to elaborate?
I never blamed anyone for getting an implant or a revision, and I never called for a boycott because it's simply not possible. I've always said that penile implants are the same as heart valves. If you need a heart valve, you can't tell your surgeon, "No, I don't want it," because otherwise life stops.
All I've asked for is putting an end to the obvious toxic positivity. No one has the right to label people with concerns, views, insights, or differing opinions as trolls.
Maybe then a class-action lawsuit might follow, or regulatory bodies might hear us and enforce higher standards on companies to make better products, or at least require them to run proper studies so that we have the dignity of signing a truly informed consent.
And if all of that fails, at least we stood up and delivered honest feedback instead of engaging in the same shameful, relentless asskissing.
fucked0ne wrote:That said, I do feel that your concerns add a nice counterbalance to the extensive positivity, allowing people considering an IPP to perhaps look at the situation more objectively. I absolutely feel that you should be able to speak your mind.
Thanks, man. I'll be around, and the mofos who went unchecked in the past won't be able to do that today because they know I'll strip away their fake-positive farting.
And let me tell you, many lurkers hate FT for this reason. People notice the insanity. Sales reps and positive farters are loud, I know, but people aren't stupid.
Hopefully, the narrative changes, and companies are held accountable instead of being allowed to trade with our dicks while optimizing quarterly profits. At the very least, I'd like to see more transparency, better data, and honest discussions about durability, revisions, and risks rather than endless cheerleading.
