Deflating Titan classic

Postby Straightshooter » Fri May 29, 2026 6:52 pm

Unlike many other questions posted on this site, I’m not asking about pumping and inflating, but rather deflating. I’m only three weeks out and have been cycling somewhat successfully, but it seems that I never really get fully deflated. I’m thinking I’m doing something wrong as while. I am definitely getting it deflated somewhat I don’t know how to get it all the way down. Does anybody have any suggestions or perhaps am I expecting too much such that it never truly gets fully deflated?

I squeeze the two deflate tabs using my thumb and index finger, and start squeezing the cylinders with the other hand when the cylinders have started to soften a bit. It’s like gently squeezing the shaft like a tube of toothpaste, trying to empty it into the body!

You know you’re totally deflated when your cylinders start to feel like a flattened garden hose.

I had trouble deflating my Titani classic for the first few weeks also. I got in less cycling because if I had to be somewhere relatively soon I wouldn't inflate knowing I might not have the time to get it back down. One solution I stumbled upon is something I also saw mentioned here later - deflate with your ledt hand (or whichever is your non-dominant). For whatever reason it started working instantly and reliably. Another improvement is not something I've verified but it seemed I just needed to squeeze it harder. I was coming from LGX and doing it the same way with Titan without knowing they're maybe different and Titan takes a bit more pressure

It seems that I do use quite a bit of pressure and it does deflate, but I don’t understand why as soon as I start moving around it seems to reinflate some. Is it residual fluid from the proximal end of the tubing perhaps moving forward to the distal end, which makes it seem like it’s re-inflating or am I just not getting enough fluid out with the pressure I’m applying? I see the doctor next week so maybe I’ll ask him but this is making me wonder.

A new Titan is quite stiff, and mine even 7 months post-op feels like it doesn’t fully deflate without a lot of squeezing. Even then it seems more full than a natural flaccid state. I think what you are seeing is normal, and it will softer up as time goes on.

ElbowRoom, any idea on when it will soften? 1 year?

ChatGPT says at 7 months post-op, we should have a well-formed reservoir surgical capsule. Have you checked with your doctor to rule out auto-inflation issues or poor formation of the reservoir surgical capsule?
