I wonder what the annual license fee will be to keep the device from bricking itself… Don’t think that conversation isn’t happening in the BS board room.

There is patent filed by Boston Scientific on this pump.

Many patents don't translate into actual products. But BSC also has similar technology for Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson's disease, Spinal Cord Stimulation, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation, Cardiac rhythm devices.
I won't be surprised if an actual device appears sooner rather than later.
So am I right to understand that the pump would be located in corpus cavernosum instead of scrotum? I think I must be missing something. Would there actually be a pump as we know it or would it be just some sort of a microchip that gives out orders?
If they can come up with something that lets your balls be I might wait for it lol Power supply... just imagine the conversation: "Sorry babe but I gotta charge my dick"
Not sure where you read that the pump would be inside the corpora. The patent largely reads as a conventional hydraulic IPP whose manual scrotal squeeze mechanism is replaced by an electronically actuated pump and controller.
Yep, you're right. I misunderstood something. So I presume once it's out there would be a way to replace just the pump if you wanted to. Or maybe they'd come up with temporary attachment

Another good point!
When Apple releases iOS 99.2 and suddenly you can no longer communicate with your dick, you will wish you bought that subscription.

This I can think of a few advantages:
- if the pump sits inside the reservoir, there will be less tubing to fail. Just a direct connection between the pump and cylinders
- that probably means longer life before revision since many failures are tubing and connection related
- surgical revisions for pump/reservoir may carry less infection risk since the pump sits retro peritoneal, outside the the sterile abdomen
- a lot of worry cited about having to use an app on the phone, but we do most everything on our phones today without angst. Why not add this task?
- the toughest part of my recovery was a very sore scrotum for weeks after surgery, and while motivated, it made early cycling more difficult because it really hurt to squeeze the pump. No need to squeeze anything with this technology.
- I LOVE the idea of having a flaccid cock and being able to slowly inflate it as she strokes or sucks on it, just as a natural erection works without the need to squeeze your nut sack! ( I bet you’ll be able to program one of the side buttons on the phone to initiate inflation, you won’t have to look at the screen! )
- the big question is reliability and the potential to reduce revision rates. These are surely to be more expensive to make and thus will cost more, but if it’s demonstrated that it help reduce revision surgeries, the insurance companies may agree to pay higher prices.
Don’t get too excited, it takes a long time to get an implantable device to market
