Pain in glands!

Postby Rider1400 » Tue May 26, 2026 7:59 am

So had revision 13 weeks ago which ended in an infection and then a salvage two weeks ago. Now I’m 2 weeks into this new IPP and my glands is extremely sensitive! To the point I can’t even hardly touch it! Has an almost constant ache and if touched or bumped in any way it sets it on fire for hours! I’m talking a 10 on pain scale. Talked to Dr and he simply said give it time and that it sounded like nerve pain. Immediately after my infection with last one I had this same pain in glands. Will mention the Dr did a tunneling procedure to locate cylinder tips more up into glands as they were poking out the bottom and only had a thin layer of skin keeping them in.with original one.
My first concern was could it be infection but Dr insisted since Ive been on PICC line antibiotics 5 days prior to surgery and continuing 2 weeks after, and with the wash out he did that there couldn’t be any infection. My blood draws show no infection and I have 3 more days of PICC line antibiotics left.
Otherwise my healing is perfect! Pump is like it’s never been changed out. No swelling and could easily pump and deflate it with no pain. Obviously I’m not doing that but could. Incision is almost healed with hardly any sensitive areas at all. Reservoir is placed perfectly up just under my belly with very little discomfort.
I’ve been researching nerve damage or compressed nerves after IPP placement. Nerve compression fits my symptoms perfectly….. but what I read if it IS nerve compression it could require revision to fix it!!
Has anybody had similar symptoms and how long did it take to go away? If it stays like this there’s no way I can function! Its totally debilitating! This is exactly the pain I delt with from the time my infection started with last one for two weeks til I had the salvage…. Now one week after my newest IPP it’s startied all over!!! Been dealing with this pain for a full week! Help!!!

Rider1400, have you tried Gabapentin (Neurontin) to see if it alleviates the pain?

Rider1400, really sorry to hear about the continued pain, you've been thru a lot. What guidance, or timeframe, did the Dr communicate about pain related to tunneling ? Obviously that name creates an image of a lot of affected tissue that could extend healing time.

So been on the phone with Dr!! We were discussing my glands pain and the horrible burning when stimulated in any way including simply going pee!! I mentioned I have a yeast infection in my mouth from 14 weeks of antibiotics and he said a lightbulb went off in his head about a past case a couple years ago….guy had revision and had terrible burning in glans and he prescribed fluconazold to kill bad yeast infection!! The guy felt much better in 24 hours and in 48-72 was completely fine!! Now I have my hopes thru the roof that this is what my issue could be!!! Will know in 48-72 hours for sure!! Let this be a reminder to all you hard headed men like myself!! If you’re dealing with an issue….. address it even if it’s something as simple as your mouth is raw from too many antibiotics!! Never considered it could be a full blown yeast infection inside my corpora!! Time will tell!!

Been on it off and on gor 13 weeks. It does seem to help but takes a pretty heavy dose. Read on down to my newest post on this thread to see what the Dr thinks it is!!

He said if it’s nerve damage it could take 3 weeks to a couple months but can’t see how the tunneling he did would cause this as he’s done a lot of them and not had this issue. Dr had a lightbulb go off in his head that I could possibly have a raging yeast infection in my glans from the 14 weeks of antibiotics and almost 3 weeks are IV antibiotics! Man if this is the issue it’s a simple fix!! Told Dr if this fixes it I’ll come give him a hug!! Then next I’m going to smack him on the head for not thinking of this sooner!!! lol!! We both got a good laugh out of that!! Heads go hoping!!! Maybe this is the quick fix!!
