Pain in glands!

Postby Rider1400 » Tue May 26, 2026 7:59 am

So had revision 13 weeks ago which ended in an infection and then a salvage two weeks ago. Now I’m 2 weeks into this new IPP and my glands is extremely sensitive! To the point I can’t even hardly touch it! Has an almost constant ache and if touched or bumped in any way it sets it on fire for hours! I’m talking a 10 on pain scale. Talked to Dr and he simply said give it time and that it sounded like nerve pain. Immediately after my infection with last one I had this same pain in glands. Will mention the Dr did a tunneling procedure to locate cylinder tips more up into glands as they were poking out the bottom and only had a thin layer of skin keeping them in.with original one.
My first concern was could it be infection but Dr insisted since Ive been on PICC line antibiotics 5 days prior to surgery and continuing 2 weeks after, and with the wash out he did that there couldn’t be any infection. My blood draws show no infection and I have 3 more days of PICC line antibiotics left.
Otherwise my healing is perfect! Pump is like it’s never been changed out. No swelling and could easily pump and deflate it with no pain. Obviously I’m not doing that but could. Incision is almost healed with hardly any sensitive areas at all. Reservoir is placed perfectly up just under my belly with very little discomfort.
I’ve been researching nerve damage or compressed nerves after IPP placement. Nerve compression fits my symptoms perfectly….. but what I read if it IS nerve compression it could require revision to fix it!!
Has anybody had similar symptoms and how long did it take to go away? If it stays like this there’s no way I can function! Its totally debilitating! This is exactly the pain I delt with from the time my infection started with last one for two weeks til I had the salvage…. Now one week after my newest IPP it’s startied all over!!! Been dealing with this pain for a full week! Help!!!
60yo.ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works w diminishing results.
Implanted 5-22 Titan 20cm with 1cm RTE.
Revision 3-26 Titan 24cm with 1cm trimmed off. Revision due to bad reservoir placement and potential tip erosion.

Rider1400, have you tried Gabapentin (Neurontin) to see if it alleviates the pain?

Rider1400, really sorry to hear about the continued pain, you've been thru a lot. What guidance, or timeframe, did the Dr communicate about pain related to tunneling ? Obviously that name creates an image of a lot of affected tissue that could extend healing time.
