losing length and other questions

Postby sirgawain » Mon May 11, 2026 1:35 am

I'm starting my research for what is probably going to be a next year thing...

- it seems like everyone has lost length. This is something I am very worried about. Is it a definite thing that you're going to lose length in this process?

- picking a doctor. I know I should pick one who has done a bajillion of these things. I am not sure in the PNW I am going to find that (unless someone knows of one...please speak up) -- I am worried about my surgeon being across the country from me should something go wrong after. How have you handled it?

- How long do these things last? I'll be 60 next year. Is this a 10 year thing and I'll be back under at 70?

I'm sure I will have other questions. Just trying to dip my toe in the water. I'm a trimix user now and the whole bringing it with me, making sure I can keep it chilled, having to plan ahead of time...pain in the butt and puts a damper on things more than I would like.

Brother, I wouldn't say everyone, but it is fairly common to lose some length and possibly girth immediately after surgery. Anecdotally most guys seem to recover that loss eventually. I certainly lost size post op but had recovered back to pre ED size by 9 months.

Longevity is variable. Most of us will hopefully get at least 8 to 10 years. Some less, some much longer, even up to 20 years in some cases.

Do all of the due diligence and pick the best surgeon you can find. There is a lot of good information on here if you search for it. Mine was local to me, which was comforting post op but I was prepared to travel interstate if necessary. Find out what the arrangements will be for post surgery contact regardless of location.

My experience with Trimix wasn't great. For the brief period that it worked it was fine. Then it didn't and caused more problems than it solved. And yes, the logistics and lack of spontaneity is a bummer. I have no regrets about getting my implant.

You might lose size, you might not. I didn’t as far as I can tell. This is where an experienced surgeon will get you much better results.

Yes, these things wear out just like other implants. Brest implants generally last about ten years, and inflatable penile implants are similar on average. Some fail earlier, some go much longer. My surgeon said he sees the average being about 8 years. A surgery every 8-10 years isn’t too bad, and revision surgeries usually have a much easier recovery. But you could get unlucky and need a revision in a year due to a premature failure, so go in with your eyes open.

Scientific studies show virtually all guys get back to their pre-implant length within a year, provided they follow a standard cycling protocol.

Losing length is a temporary thing as your penis and implant adjustment to each other.
Born 1974. Implanted 5/21/2024. AMS 700 CX 21cm, 3cm RTE. Penoscrotal. Venous leak my whole life. Pills helped, but hated the side effects; worked less as I aged. Skipped injections. Grateful to bionic brotherhood that helped me make this decision.
