Anybody know the future of IPP/MPP implants?

The final frontier. Deciding when, if and how.

Agree with others that the time to get the implant is now - IF your doctor agrees. Trust your doctor.

Next-gen devices need atleast 10 years of real-world use before we know their true survivorship and revision rates. Until then, early adopters are the experimental data.

Breakthrough designs do not create reliability. Reliability is earned through years of incremental improvements and proven iterations. I would choose the implant with a proven track record, not a next gen marketing brochure.

Right now there are about 60k implant procedures each year worldwide. That is a very small amount. Compare that to 2M+ breast implant procedures or 1M+ hip replacements. The reality is the penile implant market is not huge, certainly not big enough to justify massive investment in making a dramatically better implant. Sure there will be improvements, but not some sea change.

And the market is the market. An improvement in implant technology is not likely to increase market size. The objections to an implant remain the same: unnatural, requires surgery, irreversible. That won’t change through implant innovation. Most guys with ED respond well to pills or injections, and the implant market is thus limited. Implants also work pretty well as-is. Could improvements add a few years on average? Sure. But that won’t move the needle very much for expanding market share for manufacturers.

On the other hand, therapies like organ regeneration aren’t ED specific. Research into this is primarily driven by the massive amount of money that will come from regrowing organs other than penises! But ED sufferers will essentially tag along with breakthroughs in that area.

Hence why I think implant innovation will be relatively stagnant but that very big alternate therapies might be on the horizon.

I agree with Leto, the main aspect for technological progress is MONEY.
The market is very small and thus there won't be much place for sensational developments in penis implant technology.
As a surgeon myself I think the real improvement will be focused in surgical techniques with the aim to reduce complications and better surgical outcome.
Looking on breast implants which is a much bigger market, the only advancements changed is to improve material and to reduce revisions. While previous implants were to replace after 10-15 years, current implants can be left life-long inside the breast.
Current IPP devices are already very good and so there is no reason to wait for the big breakthrough in implant technology or to complex digital solutions, The most important parts of implants are laying in material and mechanics, so failures in mechanical parts of the IPP like pump, valves, tubes and that won't change much in the future.
Get your implant now as we they offer a reliable solution for ED sufferers with a relatively stable and sufficient treatment option.
