Thanks for the response. I’m in good shape and have been enjoying “spirited” sex a couple to several times a day lately.
Do you know how your AMS failed? Pump, tubing, reservoir? Just curious. With a Titan we could all assume tubing with 90% certainty, with AMS the failures seem more evenly spread among the components.
The right cylinder ruptured. I was able to limp by (no pun intended) for a couple months with just the left cylinder working, then it also let go.
I consider 9.5 years of consistent, daily use a genuine success story. Did you lose anything with revision? And how long did you have to wait?
I just did the math in my head, and I think it was actually 10.5 years. So yes, pretty solid run. What is funny is, even though I was aware that implants have a shelf-life, the thought of failure was never on my mind.
The implant failed in early June of last year, and I just had my revision surgery on 5/1....so 11 months. I was able to continue to have below-average intercourse up until about November, with one cylinder.
I was actually scheduled for surgery in early August of last year, and the day before, the office called me and told me that my insurance policy would not cover it. I went through about 8mos of battling BCBS with appeals, to no avail. I could have probably fought it a little while longer, but I really didn't want to wait anymore. Fearing atrophy and implant tissue ingrowth, I began the search for a specialist who has self-pay options and landed with Dr. Eid.
Fortunately, no, I did not lose anything. I will actually wind up gaining some length and even more-so, girth.
50 years old. Had AMS-700 LGX implanted at 39. AMS failed at 10.5 years. Had revision surgery with Dr. Eid on 5/1/26. Replaced with Coloplast Titan.
