What if your first one lasts 22 years? Survival spans 1 to 20+ years.

Don’t expect misfortune. Face it if and when it arrives, but never never never rehearse it.

When failure finally comes, meet it calmly. Until then, refuse to rehearse tragedy.

Live as though it will last 20+ years.

At the prime of your sex life, choose a prime implant. When you reach my age with stents, strokes, bypasses, and weakened hand grip, malleables will enter your life naturally without asking. Don't take my word. Trust your surgeon. Make sure he/she is a high volume dedicated implanter.

Don't forget this: Coloplast offers a 10 year mechanical warranty in the US if you're paying out of pocket entirely. Make full use of this golden opportunity.

After decompression of the penile prosthesis, will it still be very thick? Will it be embarrassing? I don't think anyone has asked this question before?

It will be thick. It will look normal. It will look like youre a shower. Mine already hangs at 5 inches and is 5.5 inches thick and looks normal to me

What I mean is, does the crotch area bulge when I wear outer pants? Two friends who have had penis implants noticed it when they wear outer pants.

Your flaccid penis is likely to be much longer, possibly thicker as well, although that seems more variable.
In my experience yes, the extra length can cause a visible bulge in your outer pants.
Unless you are already very well endowed stowing it probably won't be a significant problem.
It doesn't bother me but I do try and make it less obvious in situations where it may raise eyebrows.
Wearing tighter underwear and/or looser outer clothing helps. That said I actually enjoy being a "shower".

A different perspective on this. Yes, any change to your lifelong dick will be apparent to you. After all, you've been like this your whole life. It will be some version of a change because it is a change.

I'm approaching the 4 year mark. There are times when stowing myself that I notice the new size. While it might surprise you. It is perfectly natural to men that are showers. A small increase in your flacid size is only noticeable to you. People are not watching the crotch of every man that they pass during the day.

You will be perfectly fine.

As someone who went from a grower with a 1.5 inch flaccid to a shower with about 5 inches ALL THE TIME, I absolutely second this perspective. 5 inches isn’t a ton, but for a guy who NEVER had to worry about it, this was honestly shocking for the first few weeks. I’ve now mostly adapted to it, but it still surprises me from time to time! You do adapt to it though.
