What to tell co workers after implant?

Postby Hatchbackharry » Thu Apr 09, 2026 8:22 am

Hi all. First time poster from the uk. I have a consult with Mr Ralph soon in London for an inflatable 3 piece implant.
My question to the guys that already have the inflatable is what you tell your coworkers if you have a manual job and have to go back to work before you are safe to lift over a certain weight?

I’m thinking causing you have a back issue or have pulled a muscle or tendon in your groin.

You can also go with bladder surgery. Honestly they don't need to know your medical reason, just that you have one.

Some great suggestions. I like the cyst option. Definitely a conversation stopper lol

I told everyone including my kids I had a hernia repair. I think this is the typical answer plus its very common and in the groin area. Good luck bro!

my Doc advised me to tell no one, if it comes up its a complex hernia surgery. Surprised me by saying when you are recovering you won't want to learn who your real friends are.
I think he ment, you really don't need to hear wise cracks and jokes when you're questioning everything. I took his advice and was glad for it. todate 3 people know.

I was prepared to tell people I had hernia surgery. It’s common. It makes sense for the restrictions post op. Yet it isn’t too graphic/personal.

But in the end I didn’t have to tell anyone anything. I took a week off and then I returned to work. My work doesn’t require heavy lifting so I never had to change anything.

If I HAD to tell someone it would have been “hernia surgery”.
