Does anyone have any concrete evidence on what happens if you have an implant permanently removed?

I'm not concerned about shrinkage or never being able to get another implant installed inthe future, but rather things like in ability to urinate or some weird functional problem that I can't think of.

I've seen what appears to be a lot of speculation on the topic within threads that were addressing other main topics, but nothing that seemed like hard evidence.

I'm sure there are guys who got the thing removed permanently due 1 reason or another (infection, discomfort, ect), but I'm not sure there is any real reason for them to visit the forum any longer.

What I'm considering is, after I hit an age where I'm not sexually active anymore, I'd like to have the implant removed just so I can live without a foreign object in my body and enjoy activities and a range of motion that is currently restricted.

If the only "bad" thing is shrinkage, then that doesnt seem bad at all.

im confused, your signature says that you are happy with the outcome, but you write a post about removing it. so what is making you unhappy? and what exactly do you mean by "range of movement currently restricted"?

Regarding removal, i remember there was a member in this forum who had it removed, if i remember correctly his name was mark

So I lost size fast and started having problems urinating. It took me ages to eventually recover the lost size by using a vacuum pump daily.
In the OP's scenario I'm wondering if it could be practical to install a malleable device, maybe slightly undersized for comfort reasons, and the agility desired? That could possibly prevent any atrophy and consequent problems, and no extra bits like the pump to worry about.
But if it was me I would probably just leave the failed (or no longer needed) device in place.

The fact that you were able to use a VED to recoer size is actually encouraging. I'm not worried about size for the sake of size, but rather a secondary indicator that maintaining some size means the issue is staying somewhat healthy. My plan would be to use VED for a few minutes every day or every other day just to keep the blood flowing so to speak. Do you mind sharing what your VED routine was? Also how much would you think you would need to use it just to prevent too much atrophy?

From memory once I started I was typically using the VED regularly twice a day for at least 20 minutes.
Ultimately I was also using it for sex as all other conservative ED treatments eventually failed.
I can't say what minimum you would need to prevent atrophy. I would think a few times a week but it's only a guess.

Ok no worries, I'm guessing too. I can see what one of the surgeons say when/if i ever talk to them about this.

Hi Discover, the "Mark" you mention has actually been replying in this thread and good info coming from him.

I adreesed your question previously in this thread regarding whats making me unhappy. By range of motion I mean I can't do things like running, jumping, and other full range of motion movements with possibly triggering a multi-day pain episode with the tubing in my scrotum. The implants are advertised as being things that wont restrict a man from any kind of physical activity/sports, but as it stands mine does exactly that.

Regarding the signature - things have changed since I wrote it. I was happy, then problems showed up 1+ years later. I'll change it soon.

If its just a problem of the tubing, why not fix the tubing rather than remove the whole thing? Or do you just feel like not having sex anymore?

The main issue with removing is that if you change your mind later, it might be really difficult to get implanted again once your tissues have atrophied.

Other than never having sex again, i can't think of any downsides of the removal.

Hey man, I'm sorry your implant is causing you these problems. I hope you find a solution other than explantation.

You mentioned you haven't masturbated or had sex in quite some time. I'd like to ask, how often do you cycle the implant? Do you think it's necessary to do it daily? Do you think it's possible to go several months without inflating the implant without it being affected? I'm just curious since you mentioned that, because there are times when I don't use it much, and maybe it doesn't need to be inflated so often and its lifespan lasts longer. Just wondering if you've done this in your case.
