I reached out to Coloplast for some answers because I haven't found much of any specifics discussed here yet. Their response, "Through testing, we have determined that the maximum pressure achievable by pumping is 28 psi (95% confidence and 99% reliability)." The way they worded it implied this was a physical limitation, but my suspicion is it based on the limitation of the Touch pump, since I can get two hands on it and still no more fluid moves it just feels like a tennis ball.

For context, clinical testing typically operates at 0, 10, 15, and 20 psi, with implant specs reported reflecting 0 psi (or perhaps 1 psi... the closest to "at rest" possible). This is good news for everyone, but especially AMS guys. As we know, the 21cm AMS measures 25cm at 20 psi and the 22cm Titan measures 23cm:

In summary, the numbers we have for our installs are at rest numbers, and inflation to typical "pleasurable" pressures, i.e. 15-20 psi already gives us more than spec, but the exciting thing is that if we are capable of 28 psi manually, then clearly we have the potential to expand these things even further than has been reported definitively.

This is crazy, but I stand corrected. Using a second hand I am consistently able to keep pumping now and of course the stinging pain returns so I don’t keep going, but it does appear that the limitation is hand strength!

…which is, frankly, kind of scary!

In my pre surgery consultation my surgeon said the LGX is unnecessary because the "new" CX has sufficient expansion.

Real world experience is that with an 18cm CX, no RTEs, my bone pressed inflated length is 16cm. (6.2")
Either I've got really wierd anatomy or this thing does expand several cm. (maybe both)

Read the study. It's the only link I referred to, and I never mentioned the CX anywhere.

I see what you mean now. But I find a few other numbers quite interesting about the study.

First one is the diameter of a 22cm Titan at 20psi was 19mm and not 21mm a Coloplast advertises.

Second one is that the 21cm CX requires 90ml to reach 20 psi with a diameter of 17mm whereas the 22cm Titan needs a whooping 117ml or 27ml more to reach 20 psi with a diameter of 19mm. Interesting.

Yeah I wish they had tested the longer ones too, since the 24, 26, and 28 supposedly have the greatest girth potential. It makes me wonder if there was a mistake in the recording, though it could be a fluke of some other kind.

The second point checks out though... adding 2mm to a diameter of 17mm increases the area by 22.15%. It's one of mathematics' most surprising tricks... think about when girls double the volume of their breast implants and barely look any different.
