Revision due to improper installation… almost 4 years

Postby Rider1400 » Tue Feb 03, 2026 10:30 am

Immediately after implant almost 4 years ago my reservoir was protruding immediately under my belt line just left of center. Dr explained that since I had a hernia with mesh surgery 25 years previously that he had to place under fascia and that’s the best I could hope for. Over the years it’s evidently gotten scar tissue around it and now pokes out with some sharp places where the reservoir is folded over and pops and crinkles when I move. Also my tips of the cylinders started poking my wife in a very uncomfortable way about 2 years ago. We have found that it’s most comfortable for her in the straight up missionary position! This gets old and I really like other positions and normally would alternate between several during sex. I can lift up on the tip of my glands and the points of the cylinders look like they are just under the skin about 1/2 way back on my glands and gets sore after sex. I also have a tube that shows up on top of my dick since I lost weight. Apparently it’s one of the tubes that go into the cylinder as I had infrapubic install.
A couple weeks ago I drove the 6-1/2 hr drive one way to Houston and met with Dr Clavell. He is amazing!!! Took a lot of time with me as I explained my issues and he addressed ea one with he can fix it! He explained that he would prefer to go thru scrotaly this time so all incisions would be virgin areas and safer for revision. He explained that he would place my reservoir up just under my belly in the center under my lower abdominal muscles where it would not be seen at all. Did however say I would likely feel it slightly but again that it wouldn’t show. The issue with the tips he said he would possibly do a procedure called glansplexia or something like that. It’s where he would make a small incision just under the back of the glands and stitch/ anchor the tips in place more toward the back of the glands. Also mentioned he could do some tunneling in order to get the tips more in the proper position. Also mentioned impending erosion in the report. When reading the report he also said likely slightly undersized. Clavel said obviously I wouldn’t have the tube on top anymore but would obviously have a different set of tubes in the scrotum but that he was good at concealing them. Clavells office had no issue getting BCBS to agree to approve the revision. Surgery is scheduled for February 25! Looking forward to getting my issues fixed. I will mention that there is zero problems with the functional aspect of the implant! All issues I am having are more installation issues. If your going to get an implant do your homework and get the best surgeon you can get! The original Dr I used had been qualified thru Perito and came highly recommended and supposedly did several hundred implants a year. Obviously he has issues as he quit doing implants shortly after he did mine. Thought I was going with the right Dr at the time but feel much better about using Dr Clavell as he is likely one of the TOP surgeons in IPPs in the USA if not in the world! Will report back as soon as as I’m out of surgery with report from Dr on how it all works out!
