concert 2 days after surgery?
Hey guys. My first post here. I'm scheduled for surgery in March, for AMS 700 installation. Right after I got it scheduled I found out that my girlfriend had bought concert tickets for two days after my surgery. She did not yet know the date of my surgery. I have no idea if I would be able to go out that soon. Should I tell her to take one of her friends to that show?

I would not schedule any activities that soon after the surgery. Chances are you won’t be very comfortable and will prefer just being in bed. So let her take a friend instead.

I'm 3 days out from surgery and wouldn't be wanting to go to a concert anytime soon.
On the couch watching TV is enough.
So, let her take a friend and enjoy the concert while you make the most of some quiet time.

Be patient, you'll need rest, rest, rest and if you'll have swollen scrotum for example, is not that nice to enjoy a concert...

Re: concert 2 days after surgery?
I actually went to a concert by public transport 6 or 7 days post op after my AMS/LGX implant. I also had to walk about 15 minutes to/from the venue.
I won't say I was especially comfortable but I managed OK. But at 2 days I doubt I would have been up to it.

Re: concert 2 days after surgery?
For the first three days it would be a good idea to just stay off your feet, resting in bed or on the couch with your feet up with an ice pack on your groin the entire time. Ice ice ice ice ice ice ice. That is going to reduce inflammation, reduce swelling, reduce pain.
After that I would slowly increase activity (a short walk, then back to the couch, a bit more the next time and so on).
Going to a concert on day 2 would have been too much and I’m certain I would have suffered for a few days after and likely prolonged my recovery.
I would pass and let her take a friend instead.

Thanks, everyone! Easy to see a consensus here, and it confirms my inclination. I will stay home.

That’s the right call. If you slipped and fell, or had to make a sudden unexpected movement while out, you could cause yourself real complications. Best to take it easy.
