Help Needed! Sydney, Australia

Hi guys, I am feeling really flat at the moment. Last year a saw a urologist who after about 2 mins and $350 told me he was focusing more on cancer patients and not implants. He recommended I see a men’s sexual health doctor, which I did and try injections.

Fast forward 6 months and the sexual health doctor has taken an unknown leave of absence. Pills and injections havnt worked so I asked my GP to refer me to another urologist who google told me was “high” volume for implants. High volume doesn’t really exist in Australia. I saw him 6 weeks ago and he referred me to get a Doppler and after searching all of Sydney to try and find somewhere that did this rare procedure I finally got it done and went back to see him a couple of days ago. It was confirmed that I have a venous leak, he very quickly skimmed over saying venous leak surgery won’t work and gave me no explanation. He then referred me to get a Cavernosagram (which I understand is a Doppler with the addition of dye) again giving me no explanation as to why I needed this. I have called over 20 different radiology and vascular clinics and no one seems to do this procedure.

I am really unsure about this urologist, he is very dry and dismissive, doesn’t seem interested in explaining things and is always on his phone during the consultation (not taking notes) I should have read his google reviews before booking in to see him, they are not good. I don’t expect the urologist to be my best friend but some sort of decency is appreciated considering the cost to see them.

I’ve had two sub par experiences with implant urologists. All I would like is a personable doctor that has experience and takes time to listen. Does anyone have an implant urologist recommendations in Sydney? Yes I understand Dr Chris Love in Melbourne is the leading doctor in Australia but Unfortunately travelling interstate or overseas is not an option for me. Surely Sydney has someone?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

I wouldn't rule out travelling to Melbourne for surgery, it's not really that far. I did my telehealth appointment with Dr Love last year and I'm in Adelaide.
I know what you mean about getting the Doppler done in Australia, no one seems to want to know about it. I contacted Benson Radiology about getting it done back in September last year and they told me to there will be a wait until January this year because there was a shortage of the drug used for the injection, so I still haven't had it done yet.
I'm pretty sure there are a few good implanters in Sydney, there was one dr called Dr. Ross Calopedos, I thought he looked pretty good but was on the expensive side for the implant, even more than Dr Love I think. There has been some guys on here from NSW have found good surgeons locally, have you found anything in the searches?

I may be totally wrong so apologies in advance, I think LGXDownunder is from Sydney and was very satisfied with his urologist. As an aside I have found his posts on this forum to be very reasonable and balanced. Perhaps pm him.

I’m from Melbourne and my urologist was Dr Chris Love. A brilliant urologist and a top bloke.
